Learn With Me - Hydrasynth: Ep13 - Mod Matrix Part 2

Having experimented with the modulation sources more freely, we look at using the expression controls such as poly aftertouch.
In this series of videos you'll join me as I learn the ins and outs of the ASM Hydrasynth (Explorer). I've had it for about one month and used it to a limited degree alongside reading the manual. I'll demonstrate my end to end learning and exploration process starting with the basics of how to use the synth, through all the features, and ending with some sound design demonstrations.

This is really amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing so much knowledge not only on the Hydra but on synthesis in general. I'm learning so much. I was wondering if you could offer something on using the CV Outputs on the Explorer to control modular or semi-modular gear. I'm kind of a newbie, and I can't seem to find anything that really helps me get started on this.

I absolutely adore your videos. You have great knowledge and skills. Just one small advice, the notes you are using are very high in pitch and ear piercing, may be if you use lower octaves would be more pleasant to listen to. Regardless, I’ll be watching and liking every video of yours.

Thanks for your comment, and for watching. I'll definitely think about the register I'm playing in more, and the volume. Presently, I focus on timbre in the sound design, so I sometimes end up with the pitch quite high or low and the volume too quiet. I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks for watching, and for commenting. The delay of the LFOs, or of the Envelopes can't be modulated. I think the logic here is that the LFOs and envelopes should only ever move forward in time where the rate and amplitude can change; my guess is that allowing time reversing modulation is incompatible with something causing unexpected, unmusical or unpredictable behaviour. This is presumably the same reason you can't modulate the LFO phase.

@@Vladi_mir_M Modulating delay time alters the pitch which either removes recorded audio, or adds silence. This doesn't actually make any modulations move backward or forward in time.
