Teacher Paul shows how the present continuous tense is formed, and he explains why it is used. This video is for new students. It is a very basic explanation, so don't be surprised by how slow it is.www.learnameri...

Awesome! I'm using this with my adult English students. You get extra points for remembering that we use PC for the future (so many youtubers forget that). I would like to add that when we say something about what someone is doing in their life in this tense, it's best to use Present Simple if it's more permanent, but Present Continuous for something more temporary. If I ask "Where do you live?", please say: "I live in Seattle." NOT "I'm living in Seattle." (The second one implies that it's either experimental or temporary. If you haven't talked to the person asking in a long time, you can say "I'm living in Seattle now." )

Sir, Please make a video on answering questions that start with modal verbs, both positive as well negative answers. I have watched one of your earlier videos 'would you mind' and learnt a lot but I would want to know more about answering questions such as 'can you hear' vs 'can't your hear'. I always confuse how to agree/disagree when questions start with can't, won't, don't. Thank you so much. Longtime follower.

Good morning teacher, may you explain when I can use "like" and "as"? I made many mistakes when I use them. I used to read the Gramma books and do the exercises for using them. But I didn't understand exactly. I am looking forward to watching your lessons soon. Thanks Teacher!

I commented about this before, but I am a native English speaker who finds it interesting to look at how ppl teach eng to non-native eng speakers from time to time... but when the heck do we use the present continuous for the future tense? Would that not therefore be the *future* continous??? Please enlighten me on this subject, oh Master LearnAmericanEnglishOnline!
@Learnamericanenglishonline3 жыл бұрын
I think the future continuous tense emphasizes the intention or the planning of a future event, but both the present continuous and the future continuous can be used for the future: I'm leaving tomorrow. / I'll be leaving tomorrow. / She's working all next week. / She'll be working all next week. -- Yeah, about the same, but the present continuous tense is easier to form for non-native speakers. The future continuous tense is slightly idiomatic: I'll be seeing you later!
