The rules that you have to follow while writing a chemical formula are as follows:- • the valency of charges on the iron must balance • when a compound consists of a metal and nonmetal the name of symbol of the metal is return first example calcium oxide sodium chloride NaCl iron sulphide FeS copper oxide etc. there oxygen, chlorine, Sulphur, are non metals and a return on the right. whereas calcium, sodium, iron and copper are metals and are written on left side. • in compounds formed in polyatomic. Ions. The number of Ions present in the compound is indicated by the closing the formula of iron in a bracket and writing the number of iron outside the bracket for example Mg(OH)2. in case the number of polyatomic Ions is one the bracket is not required for example an NaOH. I think you got it. If you haven't come, let me tell you that was in our 9th class and I think you haven't read it, so you can read it once. Page No. 38 in Chapter Atom and Molecules of Class IX. hope you understand....!♢

@@ifs6068 it doesn't need to learn chemical formulas, by knowing the valency of the elements it is easy to write chemical formulas. For example Al2O3 in the elements are aluminum which has valency 3 and oxygen which has valency 2 will be Al2O3 by cross valency. The valency is exchanged.
