This is great! I especially appreciate the more physical tips like putting a hand to your throat to feel what’s happening. I’m using Duolingo as my home base for learning for now (it’s accessible in multiple ways), but I need human help for pronunciation, esp letters like ح. It’s really helpful to combine your videos, Duolingo, and Wikipedia (I benefit from reading some technical stuff). My dear Syrian friend then gets all my remaining questions (and excitement). The vocabulary exposure is good, too, even if I’m not writing them all down to practice (yet). I was so pleased when, after I encountered مِندي in your ع video, عِند showed up in a Duolingo lesson!

Do u mind if I ask wht u meant by the ARAMAIC word Bethlehem? Specifically Hebrew instead of Aramaic..... Thank you
@yaroninbar6852 жыл бұрын
Aramaic Arabic and Hebrew are 3 Semitic languages used in the area , As Aramaic became lingua franca in the area it had a big influence in the other languages for sure in ancient Hebrew. I think that Jesus language was Aramaic (and also was used in certain parts of the old testament). Aramaic still exist today and it is used in parts of the Levant , however not very spread. The name of the city Bethlehem means in Hebrew and Aramaic house of bread Bet=house Lehem=bread In nowadays Arabic, lahme=meat I don't know if the meaning changed over the centuries
