Sun Lutang was an academic who, like most academics, over-intellectualized everything. He's arguably one of the WORST things to happen to Chinese martial arts, and the internal arts in particular in the last 200 years.

Not to be disrespectful, but you're actually talking like one. He learned, mastered and spread martial arts that in other hand would have been lost. Now more people know the art, just because of him, so what is the harm in thar?

Actually he simplified the three major NeiJa du to their similarities. If I recall correctly he saw them as one.
