second method equation 2 can be written as y =35/x Replace the y in equation 1 x^4 -24x² -1225 = 0 is a biquadratic equation, which must be solved by substitution x² = z z² - 24 z -1225 = 0 has the solutions z1 = -25 or z2 = 49 resubstitute gives us 4 solutions the complex x = + - 5i or the reell x = + - 7. (it isn't cleary said if we need the complex solutions here!) we obtain y with the 2. equation. as y = -+ 7i or y = + - 5.

I watched. I learnt the square root of -1 was j i thought but you call it i? Not sure if its the same thing tho because its been so long since i studied math. Like seeing these questions though, makes me think and remember some of the stuff i did in college

Why so much lengthy soln,just put y=mx and divide.we get35m^2+24m-35=0,solve for m,m=-7/5,5/7. And the answer +_2i,+_12.
