The calibration does finish eventually. It's definitely not one minute, but even though it seems like it starts from the beginning, the lights actually change every time it loops. I think it's just doing the different channels and configurations, at some point you can even hear the relays flicking. I came to this video a while back, and today I have my first scope. So thank you! I would have also never found out about the calibration feature if it weren't for you. Suppose that's just something you do with scopes, but again I've never had one, and never really came across any video that was like "these are the things to do/not do if you have a scope" either. Maybe that's a good idea, you sure seem like you have the experience to make a good one of those- I'd definitely watch it. Have a nice one, and once again thank you!

I don't know why there is no mention of an output tone from the Signal Generator.... I know that the generator outputs a sine-wave because I can see it on the scale... but is there also a signal tone for a radio speaker that you can physically hear from a speaker ? I'm trying to do a shortwave radio alignment and I need to physically hear the 455Khz audio signal tone from the generator.

Just discovered your awesome channel and of course subscribed. I tinker with arduinos, pi, esp32 but I'm new to deeper level electronics. One big question I can't seem to find an answer to is some real life use cases and type of troubleshooting where you would use an oscilloscope like that? These features are excellent but I'd love to learn when and how to use them.
@learnelectronics3 жыл бұрын
A simple one would be to characterize a filter. Say you want to build a low pass filter with a cutoff of 20KHz. (Upper auditory range) You would use the awg to output a sine wave and sweep though a range, say 15K to 25k. Then use the scope to watch. When you see the amplitude halved (-3dB point) that's the cutoff frequency.

Is this model sufficient for a beginner in vintage radio servicing, adjustments, alignments, vintage and modern ham radio, audio/music electronics like guitar amps and synthesizers, as well as restoring vintage retro computers? Can it handle the higher voltages of tube electronics?… Can the generator AND scope be used simultaneously for both injecting a signal into a circuit, and then simultaneously measuring it in the circuit with the probes? Also, I’d love to see your version of a video on OSCILLOSCOPE SAFETY, in terms of grounding, isolation, and avoiding a ZZZAPPING experience… Thanks!

300 mhz scope to measure 100 mhz clock? No, the accepted ratio of 5 to 1 is required for a high fidelity measurement, so a 500 mhz scope is desired. Also, the long probe ground is not advised, use a spring ground hook right at the tip of the probe.

Depends on what you want to do with it. I recommend the 4000C with the signal generator or 5000D series because it has the 16 CH Analog Analyzer and the signal generator. Hantek scopes are pretty easy to unlock the faster speed as well so it is more important to get 4 channels. You will need to get the faster probes for a few dollars though because the slower scope ships with "slower" probes. The internals are the same because they are software locked to the speed. If you want faster signal generator I would recommend getting the FY6800 for $100. Hantek also has a very rare 4000S which has an Analog analyzer and Signal generator.

I’m no expert on the inner workings of oscilloscopes, but there are some kits out there you can buy for pretty cheap that will net you a pretty good scope. However, they won’t have anywhere near the bandwidth and sample rate of scopes made by brands like Hantek or Rigol. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort to design, program, and put together a scope like this one, it’ll take you months, if not years, and may end up costing more than if you just bought a scope outright.

thank you for the video. I'm trying to catch all the hantek ones. was looking at the Hantek DSO2D15 becasue of all the bells and whistles and lower price, but all these things I'm reading abut freezing issues. and youtube reviewers who said it's awesome then next month they have a video about all freezing problems and even 5 months later they still have some problems. as of October 2022 , does anyone know if Hantek has fixed all the firmware bugs that caused freezing. some people showed repeatable actions which made this happen doing normal things. Techcorner guy has at least 3-4 videos showing his ongoing saga trying to get it fixed using different firmwares. I also read that maybe adding a fan or heat sinks on IC's help with some freezing? at this point in 2022, if this is truly an issue , has Hantek added a Fan and more heat sinks to the Internals? I would feel more safe buying it, if I knew it was past this stuff now and new one would have some love and attention from Hantek after all the youtube and eevblog feedback to them. Note I have only read some so far about the issues as eevblogs is overwhelming, too many videos from multiple people show the firmware and the hacking you have to do. and at least 3 different regular youtube makers with problems on the Hantek DSO2Dxx Would love to buy this if anyone knows it's all fixed now? or do we still need to add a fan and heat sinks? but seriously if hantek has this out for 2 years then new models should have fans installed at hantek factory or is that Wonderland thinking?

@@impactodelsurenterprise2440 Sure I do! When you buy something expensive and doesn't perform like it should, you are left alone without any help, there is no means to be able to return the scope and you have no help from Hantek, what do you do? I start a war on them by youtube, blogs, etc. After two months I am still waiting for help from the after sales department. Is it a serious company in your opinion who places unreliable oscilloscopes on the market? What I learned is next time I'll buy instrumentation from companies that have been in the field for thirty years.
