Nice and simple construction and programing. Would love to build one and try it out.

hello David, just wanted to let you know that your package is in the mail, USPS tracking #9500115194017264073791. According to the slip you should have it in your hands on Monday. Idaho huh? My psyco ex was from Lewiston lol. Hope you enjoy, if ya build something good, send me picture. Peace

A real treat this one. The D1 Mini is very handy and priced low enough you can own more than one. I didn't know Penn was so low? I'm about 4000 feet higher and in the desert!

George Chambers Its pretty flat around here. I mean there are plenty of hills but the highest elevation is about 1200 ASL.

Great little project as usual! This D1 mini is a great little platform!

Ken Pilcher yes it is. I've got some Shields coming for it. So there will be more projects.

I just found your channel, I've recently started doing more with the ESP32, but I love the little D1 Mini, there are still plenty of times that that is the right tool for the job...

Nice project! Gonna make a similar with GPS included. Expansion tip: Add a dipswich or jumper to switch from Metric to Imperial... :)

Rikard Johnels jumper or switch, I like the idea, thanks. I also hope you will share your project with us.

With Arduino libraries "cactus_io_BME280_I2C.h" and BME280 you can still measure the humidity. BMP280 was used here. Incidentally, really good videos.

the esps really are a blessing for those that need a bit more performance on a small space. wish the raspberry pis and clones were as small :P

fredlllll The pi0 is pretty small, but it lacks in performance next to the Pi3.

well there is the orange pi zero, which has a quadcore too with 512MB, but i dont get why the hell it has that ethernet port on it

Thank you for the time you take to create your videos. And especially a giveaway. Only Improvement I could ask for would be to teach like some of your viewers are just learning to use and program the Arduino. This is my 4th week and the learning curve is kind of steep. A bit more explanation on components and code would be helpful. Enjoyed building this CO2 PPM after trying to figure out that I had to reorder the OLED i2c and not the SPI. And that you had to select the type of OLED in the library to get the project to work correctly. Either way it did force me to learn more. Thanks again keep up the good work

The BMP280 is a great sensor. You can change font size in the code to make it bigger on the OLED. I ordered a lot from the Banggood sale -- still waiting for my stuff to arrive! :-)

Michael Padovani I have 3 of the Bosch sensors, the Bmp180, Bmp280, and the Bme280. Although I think I fried the BME lol.

Great video as always! One suggestion though, sometimes when the project has a lot of wiring, is that it's difficult to see where they are connected. I appreciate that it would take more time, but some sort of wiring diagram would be very helpful.

Cool project. Thanks for the videos. I've learned a lot about micro dev boards, sensor implementation, and user interfaces via your channel. I'm almost to the point where I can build my own wireless weather station with graphical display and data storage. I'm collecting v parts now and will begin the build soon. Keep up the good work.

As usual both informative and filled with good hints. And just to let you know I still have not received my PCBs from China, but I think this might not be a good time to look at turnaround. Irma has put a lot of my Chinese shipping on hold in Chicago for things I am tracking from China.

Very neat project! Would also be interesting to keep track of the altitude for an altitude profile or to see how much you covered during the hike. Just ordered 2 of these sensors to play around with. And I am not in the US so disregard me for the lucky draw.

Like the video as usual. I never heard of it called a hikers friend. If you are assembling that permenant, and the OLED pins are in the correct order, here is a cool hack to mount it even so it's not a "shield": blog.squix.org/2016/06/esp8266-hack-piggybacking-oled-display-on-wemos-d1-mini.html I have quite a few mini's - love them, and for that reason if it's me that wins (haha), please redraw and give to someone who would need that more. The only thing I don't like about the D1 in an end project that runs on batteries is that it's kind of a waste to power that CH340 for nothing, and other people have complained that the circuit is not that efficient compared to a stand alone ESP. I cant imagine someone would constantly down vote your videos, but probably it's the same troll. Don't worry thought, I tried to watch them all, thumbs up and comment to help your ratings. Maybe it will counter it some! Good luck - I see your numbers climbing exponentially - you deserve it!
