Some of you have had great success learning English and I'd like to hear your story. Some of you have not had great success learning English and I'd like to hear about that too and give you some encouragement to help you continue on your English learning journey!
I think sharing each others experiences will help us learn English through each other's stories. :)
⌛ Remember: Always watch the video three times. Twice today with English subtitles on, and once tomorrow with the English subtitles off. This will reinforce the English you have learned!

✅ TRANSCRIPT:
Hi Bob the Canadian here welcome to this video. I thought today I would do a little bit of a different sort of video. I was actually not feeling well today and I wasn't going to make a video. I ended up staying home from work sick today. I had a sore throat and just a bad headache and a stuffed up nose. But I had a nap, a really long nap, and I feel a bit better and I had some throat lozenges so my throat feels a little better.
So I thought, when I was thinking about how I was feeling it made me wonder how all of you are feeling. Not in terms of whether you're sick or not, but I was wondering how all of you are feeling about learning English. How, I was wondering how it was going for you learning English.
I know from having learned French that learning a language is a difficult, difficult thing to do and it takes a lot of time. In fact sometimes you'll see videos or, or books that promise that you can learn English in 30 minutes or learn English in 5 minutes a day, be fluent in 30 days, and we all know that doesn't work. So I just was really thinking about all of you and wondering how things are going.
So I thought in this video I would ask some questions and I'm gonna ask that you answer in the comments below.
First questions is just, "How is it going?", like do you feel like you're making a lot of progress. I know a lot of you spend a great deal of time outside of KZbin, outside of my videos reading, studying, making notes, etc. So I'm just curious, like, is it going really good? Is it going badly? Just give me a general sense of how it's going learning English because I, I am curious, I want all of you to succeed at this, this incredible challenge that you've taken on. So, so let me know.
And then I have a few more questions, more specific questions.
So the first one would be, "What's the last thing that you read in English?"
So let me know below again. So question, "What is the last thing that you read in English?"
So maybe the last thing you read was a newspaper. Maybe the last thing you read was a recipe card, you made, you made something in the kitchen. Maybe the last thing you read was a webpage or a news article online. Maybe some of you have read an entire book in English, that would be really cool. But yeah, let me know. What is the last thing you read? I'm curious. Again, as most of you know, I respond to every comment eventually, so let me know below what is the last thing that you read.
And then a follow up question would be, "What's the last thing that you watched?" What's the last thing you watched in English. Did you find the time to go see a film in English? Did you find a television show and watch a number of episodes in English? Again let me know below what is the last thing that you watched in English.

Hi, Bob! I'm from Bulgaria. I've been learning English for seven months through KZbin. At the beginning my knowledge in English was almost zero. Firstly I started watching another channels and a week ago I had a lucky chance to find your channel. The level you teach is pretty high for me, but I like your method so, so much and I will do my best to follow you. I have no one to speak with, so I speak English by myself. Thank you so much again!

I just wish I can watch your KZbin videos 20 years ago. I feel I am making a big progress after watching your videos for six months. Now I force myself to watch the videos every day for an hour or 30 mins. I am a computer programmer and write program in computer language. When it comes to speaking, my conversation was not clear enough for people following me. I felt bad. Now I found people know what I am talking better than before. Thank you Bob!

Hi Bob. I am sorry to hear that you feel bad today. Hope you get better soon. I have been in the US for almost 8 years, and I have started learning English since I came here. I was trying to look for a good English teacher who is very fit to a person who lives in a English speaking country and speaks English as a second language like me. I think you are just the right teacher. I started watching your video just a couple weeks ago. You are teaching very useful English words and phrases, i am lucky and very happy to have a teacher like you, it’s a little bit late to know you, though. I currently work for a company, one of automobile supply company in Ohio. The last time I have read and written English was this morning, I read an email from one of our customers and wrote an email to him. The last time I have listened English was early morning today, I am usually listening English while i am driving. The last time that I speak English was yesterday, I spoke English with our manager while we drive back from our warehouse. Speaking English is the weakest part of the my English learning. I tried my hardest but... take care! Jenny

It's going absolutely wonderfully. I'm making tremendous progress every day. The last thing that I read in English was a description to one of Kevin and Liza's videos. The last thing that I watched was Rebeca's video about how to talk about one's professional life in English. The last thing that I listened to was Writing with Jenna Moreci's video regarding how to begin the first chapter. The ultimate thing that I wrote in English was a comment to this video. The ultimate time when I spoke English was a few minutes ago to myself, as I don't have anyone to speak to. I did not find an English course, since I am a fan of learning on my own. Sometimes I feel really discouraged; I am not, however, about to give up. Each and every person felt something like this, and to my way of thinking this is absolutely fine. In life, we can feel plenty of things including discouragement, frustration hateness etc; this is not a sign of giving up nonetheless. The best way to learn any language is learning on a regular vases. It does not really matter how long it takes; the main thing is just spending minutes, hours, days, weeks etc. Stuff that has helped me along my way is definitely; Learn English with Kevin and Liza, learn English with Thiago, Learn English with Bob the Canadian, POC English, learn English with Adam, everyday English with John, learn English with Hadar, interactive English, JForest English, and many other KZbin channels. These are actually resourses that you can use as well as I do. Thank you very much, Bob! Best regards to you and your countries, really, from Ukraine

Hi Bob! I´ve been trying to learn English since when I was 30, today I am 56 , so, it´s a long time. lol... But I will never give up! I consider myself as being "B2 level" and, who knows, I can be fluent one day. Since I got retired, I give myself the opportunity to do things that I never had the chance before, cuz of my job and I had to take a good care of my family. Today my kids are adults, I have money and enough time to do whatever I want since: traveling, reading, painting, hiking, etc... I am also studying language at university, yeah, I got into college and hope I can make it right to pursue my dreams . All the best!

The last thing I watched was your KZbin video. :) The last thing I read was the history of Palestine occupied territories. The last time I spoke English was yesterday. The last English course was GlobalEnglish The most frustrating thing of learning English is that I forget lot of words. When speaking is really painful. I watch KZbin in English an average of ten hours per week sometimes 15 hours. The most difficult to learn are phrasal verbs, slang and Idioms. Spanish speakers have difficulties differentiating the sounds of some words such as cut, cat, heat, hit, sheep, cheap, sheet, etc. Pronunciation is really difficult for Spanish speakers. Our tongue is no trained to produce those sounds, it takes lot of time to differentiate those sounds and even more to produce. My motivation to learn English is to get a job in an English speaking country. I have noticed that the older you are the harder to learn. Listening and watching is the best way to me to learn. because it does not require so much effort. I am software engineer and love technology. I watch lot of videos related to that. I find really difficult not to translate in mi head from my mother language to English. Sometimes i have to do it. I think everyone does it. I found that google translate shows phrases with the words that your looking up. It helps a lot because you can find the context where they are used.

The last thing I read is a chapter of English book😁. It has a great content, so I can read whole chapter. Futher more, I watch Ellen's show each day due to the fact that the shows is really funny, it helps me not only learn new phrases, but also entertain me. Recently, I often listen to BBC news regarding corona virus pandamic. I take notes English every day. I joined the online class "Speak English Every Day" last month. I can practice English with other classmates at least 1 hour per day. However I feel it was not enough for me, so I decided I will join the class at least 2 hours per day to speak more. From time to time I feel more confident when speaking English, I think speaking English out loud is really a good point to keep working on it. I watch your video every single day, I learn more new vocabularies, the sound of words that you pronounce and the way you use it in your daily life. In addition, I use an app to correct my pronunciation, mimic, record and practice the words again and again untill I can pronounce it better. Thanks a lot!😄. Have a great day Bob.

I think if I can speak English, I can talk to more people and learn more foreign culture. It's very interesting for me . Another reason is that my daughter is very interested in English. She's 11 years old. She has passed KET exam last year. If my English is bad. she weill look down on me. I always learn English on KZbin, especially on your channel to improve my listening skill. Your speaking is very clear and not very fast, so it's very fit for me. I'm reading a book called the hunger games, it's very interesting for me even it's very difficult and has many new words. I always watch English movies with subtitle. cuz my listening English is very bad. I can't understand what they without subtitles.

I use To listen sounds, Watch movies, i write emails in english for some friend. Lately I have praticed a lot, I’m happy because i can see a good result. thank you. My best wishes. 😊🙌🏻

Hi Bob! I always get motivated exactly after watching your videos, sometimes I feel like it's so hard to change my level from intermediate to advanced even though I read different novels, watch TV series and repeat every single words you say exactly with the speed you talk as I have no one to practice with except myself😁thanks for your encouragement 💐🌸

It can be hard Elham to jump up a level (to go from intermediate to advanced) and it sounds like you are a good student and forcing yourself to do that. Great work. Reading a novel is a great way to learn new words because you can see them in their sentences, but I hear you, it can be a real challenge to get through an entire book. I think you are on the right track though to learn English very well! Good work!

Even if I've been in australia for half a year, I don't think I've made much progress. One thing is that australian accent is a bit hard to understand, after hearing them say something, I'd be confused and don't know what to reply, another thing that's been confusing me is that locals never slow down to speak English even if we're not fluent, last but not least as foreigners, we don't have so many opportunities to talk with native speakers in real life, the sad thing is that basically I learn english on KZbin

I also have a hard time with the Australian accent. It has a very unique flavour. I think it is beautiful, but sometimes it can be bewildering. I understand what you are saying about speaking speed. Some people don't realize that if they just slow down it is very helpful! I hope you have good English speaking experiences in the future!

Hi Bob, Hope you are well and your whole family too. How is it going in learning English? In fact in my case I started learning English again a year and a half ago after doing English as a second language in school until 3rd in college (= High school 9th grade in the US) (age 14/15). I didn't have much left from these lessons after so many years, but I still liked this language which I learned in class alongside German which was practically my second mother tongue after French. (In Alsace, we practice French, Alsatian and German whose German border is 10 km from my home) As part of the training rights in the company where I work, I had accumulated a fairly large sum that allowed me to choose a course and I therefore chose to return to English. So I enrolled in a language training institute (ecolingua) for around 130 hours of training alone face to face with my teacher. Before starting, I had to take a test (Leveltel) to assess my level. My level result was A1, I was afraid of being at A0 after all these years! But I obviously had some knowledge left. What's the last thing that you've read? In order to improve my reading skills, I use AOL (America OnLine) which is my email and sends me the latest news around the world in English every day. I take the articles, I translate them into French to read them first, then I read them in English. I also have my training book (English file - intermediate) which allows me lesson after lesson to read grammar, vocabulary, stories, biographies, etc ... What's the last thing you've watched? I discovered your "KZbin" channels about a year ago and I watch deferred times because unfortunately with the 6 hour time difference it is often difficult for me to connect live. I also watch the channels: Jennifer Forest, English with Vanessa, Rachel's English, Mmmm English, Engvid with Rebecca, ISpeakSpokeSpoken, etc... I also watch VOA (Voice Of America) daily which gives most of the news to the world in 1 minute. I also installed the news channels CBS news, CNN, FOX news, France 24 which I watch alternately. What's the last thing you've written? As part of my training with Sara (my English teacher) I do weekly all the exercises provided for each week in my training book. Also in order to force myself to work on my written English, I try to find a topic for each week on which I write either a biography, or a story that happened to me, or crosswords, explanation of history facts, trailer from the last movie on TV, etc ... When was the last time you spoke English? Were you able to find an English course? As I said above, I do a training with Sara, my English teacher for 3 hours every week face to face (except during the Covid when schools were closed). I took a test after about 50 hours of training and graduated with an A3-B1 level. I'm going to take a new test in September 2021 where I hope to obtain a diploma with a B1-B2 level At the same time, I tried to look for partners in physics in my city (Strasbourg) but in vain for the moment because of the Covid restrictions. I'm also trying to find speaking partners on the internet, but I'm not sure how to go about it. How are you doing? I don't know if this is normal when learning languages but I feel like I forget a lot of things once I watch videos or read articles, I have maybe 10% left in the end. Sometimes it discourages me a bit, I feel like I'm treading water. I really have to watch or read everything several times to hope to keep some in my memory, but I refuse to give up, I hang on! Apart from that, with the restrictions of the Covid it is true that we could get bored from time to time but luckily there are the English courses and Bob the Canadian that keep us going. I'm looking forward to watch and listen to your vidéos very soon on KZbin. Freddy the Alsacien from France near Strasbourg

Hi Bob, I am from Turkey. I really find your videos exciting and informative. When it comes to your questions. The last thing I have read is a novel, one thousand splendid suns. The last movie I have seen is beawolf. The person whom I spoke to is on a platform called English ninjas. I subscribed to this page two years ago and still practice. I progressed well and even if making mistakes, I am speaking better than before. Your videos are great help to me in order to learn new vocabulary. The last thing I wrote in English is this comment.🤗I have listened to TRT world news.
