How I increased my vocabularies: I watched "Soap Opera" a lot in the beginning. Then I started to read books. Any word that I didn't understand, I would write down on a piece of paper, then wrote how to pronounce it in Japanese, and then I would write down the Japanese translation. I would post it on the refrigerator, and I say the word out loud each time I open the refrigerator door. Then I would use the word in a sentence when I am having conversations with my husband or friends. Once I have done that, I would discard the piece of paper.

I didn't get learning and teaching English serious until I studied MA of Tesol at University. It also never crossed my mind that I would be a fluent speaker. However, the more I immerse myself in the beauty of this language, the more sense of language I have. I love your videos and I've watched most of them in the hope that I'll take away some handy tips and approaches to help my learners achieve their learning goals. Thank you so much for your fascinating and helpful videos. You bring so much experience and great knowledge to the table.

Your method is completely different than most of the ones found on youtube, but it affects naturally, very personally and it is unusually well thought out. Very sympathetic is also that you do not immediately point on paid offers. I am 73 years old and did not have the opportunity to learn English at school. I think your movies will be very helpful in making progress in this language. Thank you for your work! Kind regards Bernd

i only found your channel cuz i was explaining phrasal verbs to a student of mine, trying to find a decent video for her on the matter. yours were much more than just 'decent' actually. awesome content. now i'm gonna recommend it to all of my students. i love that thesaurus website too, incidentally. also Wiktionary is pretty damn good when it comes to etymology, i think. it's so much fun to trace a word back to PIE and then go up a different branch. i've been comparing many English and Russian words like that. among other languages. some things are just stunning, like, "how on earth couldn't i have noticed that myself??!" but then you remember about all the pseudoscience freaks and remind yourself to be cautious with analogies and similarities between words as evidence for them being related.
