Thing is, hesitating isn't a good thing and serves no benefits, it can actually cause crashes. The amount of times I have seen people crash because someone was hesitating is astounding. Most common way being you slowing down or stopping to let someone pull out of a driveway or side street, they hesitate but you take it as a sign they are not going so you carry on, only for them to then pull out and hit you...

My sister spent about 5 years trying to pass her test and about a year after she passed she bought a new car and said she was going to become a driving instructor. I thought she was joking but was horrified to see a driving school sign on her roof a week later and she instructing some poor learner when she still had difficulty reversing a car herself. Needless to say that venture did not last too long. Nowadays there are stricter regulations on who can become a driving instructor but back then there were none.

The first time that I went out for a driving lesson with my instructor we had to wait for another driver to complete a reversing manouver. My instructor said oh she is on her test I recognise the instructor. He watched as she performed her reverse and said oh she has failed. So I asked how can you tell that she has failed from over here. He replied that she had not turned her head and looked to see if someone had stepped off the curb behind her at a certain point in the manouver. It was then that I realised passing your driving test is not about driving. It is about doing what they want on the test.

I passed a couple days ago with only 2 minors! Your videos really helped a lot and I always used to read the comments and see people like me who were thanking you for helping them so it feels funny to finally be one of those people! I do think passing the test comes down a lot to the examiner on the day especially if you get nervous easily like me because my examiner was so lovely and chatted to me a lot which made me feel more at ease and that made it genuinely not even feel like an exam anymore! But even if your examiner isn’t as nice, as long as you follow what these videos and your instructor has taught you and just focus on that, you’ll be fine. Also for the show me tell me questions if you get one where you have to talk about a warning light remember what colour the lights are as that threw me off a bit😬 but I managed to guess right haha. Very best of luck to everyone trying to pass!

I could have passed if this guy was my instructor tho...... After 5 fails I finally got my license! It’s pretty easy for the evaluator to fail you for simple mistakes so keep your head up if it happens. Failure doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a bad driver. Keep practicing and go at it again. You’re bound to get someone who believes in you. But for me I took a step further by contacting a private license and professional dmv agent that helped me to write a provisional letter to bypass the test drive and i was given a provisional driver's license which will last for 12 months. I got a license now and it will serve for 1 years then I renew again. My little advice. * If you think are too nervous for the test drive then you can easily switch to a provisional driver's license which you won't need to test drive.

Ex cabbie and I utterly agree with you. Everyone likes to scream and honk their horns at taxi drivers but sadly, we have driving for a living and we know how to drive. Driving isn't just a case of putting your seatbelt on and putting your foot down and up, moving into and out of gear.

To anyone here who is genuinely studying to get ready for their test, I just recently took mine and passed and here are some tips I can offer: 1. Stay calm. Try not to show that your nervous, remember its just driving with someone else in the car, no biggie. 2. Take your time. Don’t rush through things and don’t let your mind run 100 miles an hour. Slow yourself down and think things through. 3. Know the rules. Driver’s tests are supposed to be picky and difficult, so study up on exact rules and ask around to see what small things your friends or colleagues may have got deducted on. 4. When parallel parking, remember your 3 point turn. Go forward until you can see the spot in your mirror, back into it then get yourself straight (2 separate motions, don’t try to whip on in real fast) then turn back into the spot. Also practice this a lot, most DMV will have cones available to practice on, so don’t be shy to go up there and practice often, it’s free and can’t hurt. 5. Make conversation. It will make you and your instructor a lot more comfortable rather then being super tense, as long as you are not distracted. 6. Stay under the speed limit at all times. They will get you for going even a little bit over. 7. Know where everything is is in your car and what it does, they will test you on this so make sure you know where all of your main important controls are. 8. Practice, practice, practice. Don’t set yourself up for failure by not driving a lot then expecting to pass your test. Drive as much as you possibly can and get comfortable with it. Trust me, this is super important. Not driving will be absolutely devastating to you. That’s about all the advice I can give, so just stay calm, you got this, I believe in you, and reply if you have any questions :)

How is hesitation at a roundabout a serious fault? Seems harsh to me
@PaulaStreet
@PaulaStreet 5 жыл бұрын
It was explained that other drivers, who also have a clear view and see no traffic coming, would be obstructed by the hesitating driver, and could even hit into from behind...[edit after reading responses] - yes of course, if anyone behind runs into you while you hesitate that is THEIR fault. But I suppose, they penalised the hesitating person because, they are generally obstructing the free flow of traffic, when there's no good reason to.

Paula Street this is just funny to me. In America, if you hit someone in front of you, it is almost ALWAYS your fault because you are expected to be going a reasonable speed and observing the cars in front of you
@Yellow_Magpie
@Yellow_Magpie 5 жыл бұрын
It's a serious fault because it takes one numpty to panic and stall-out at a roundabout for the whole system to shut down. A roundabout is meant to be the most efficient and fastest way to direct traffic at a junction, ironically, it doesn't work if you hesitate. Where I did my test was basically all roundabouts, it was an absolute nightmare at first, but it was so much easier and safer once I got used to approaching in second and being a bit more aggressive.

Paula Street if they hit him from behind when he stops at a round about that’s their fault, not keeping enough distance and/or going too fast.

It's quite funny looking back at how we snapped our heads back and forth looking in literally every conceivable angle to please the examiner on our observations when we all know (at least in my case) that we're never going to do it in real world driving, I passed in Jan '15 and can honestly say I probably don't do half the things I was taught besides the obvious quick mirror checks and indicators, and I'm still better than most other drivers on the road.

@@craig291086 mate I just done my trailer licence with my work, I had to do it then lmao, funny story... when I first learnt to drive around 15 years ago, it came to my test day, I had a short dumpy woman testing me. @@blank-dr2kx well hopefully I don’t get no dumpy woman calling me out on my mirrors lol. I passed mines first time as the guy was sound. I made a serious fault just as I was leaving the test centre and I genuinely thought I failed. So I treated it like a driving lesson. He sat me down at the end and said I passed with like 8 minors. I asked about the start and he mentioned that as I was still technically on test centre grounds, that the test hadn’t started. I’m hoping I get someone just as chill as him come July. Congratulations on your trailer license.

Here in Algeria to pass the driving test you only need about 1 hour of driving lessons before you are put with the examiner, then you only need to start the car, drive around for about 100 meters and that's it! The only thing that's considered a serious driving fault is hitting something pretty hard. Then once you start driving in the real world you'll discover that the laws aren't really laws but more like suggestions, everybody does whatever they want.

@@SD-dm1kq It's almost impossible to respect the traffic law over here; Sometimes when you're sitting at a stop light people will start honking their horns and cussing at you, some will even ram you! If you're respecting the speed limit signs you're putting everybody in danger because you're much slower than everyone else including articulated trucks and they will make all kinds of crazy stunts to get around you, and if you're wondering how all of this is possible it's because a lot of people just bribe the cops so that they don't get into legal trouble. It's all a very big mess in here.

@@Desumidificador123 That sounds great. Honestly, far too many people are dying in Algeria because of reckless driving, I once almost killed a biker myself, you don't actually need a license to ride a bike over here and you're not required to respect the traffic law at all, that's why they're such a hazard on the road.
