Hi Robbie. Thanks so much for this lesson. I have a question on the intro. You say that it starts 6, 4, 3, 2, back to 4, then 1, then 2 and 4 together. But it seems when you play it you leave out the second 4 string. So it looks like you play 6, 4, 3, 2, then 1, the 2and 4.

Been playing a while but finger picking has always been a struggle for me. Any videos or exercises you could suggest that might help? Thanks.
@BigDsHomestead3 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of finger picking videos on youtube to help you out. One of the best ways is to hold the chords and pick the lowest note(base note) with your thunmb and to use index, middle and then ring finger to pick each string down then back up. The is the basic finger picking version. Another thing to use on the downbeat is the pinch technique. Its when you play 2 strings simultaniously. The thumb and another higher note. This gives a little different sound and learn to use syncopation. Thats when you add/play additional notes or vary your strum keeping the same rhythm. It adds "flavor" to the whole sound. There's a guy named Scott Pack that has a video by Melbay called Anyone Can Play Country Guitar who gives a great introdution to finger picking, also known as Travis Picking from the late Merle Travis. Of course, melbay has a lot of others too. I have this one personally and it has taught me a lot. Just dont rush yourself. Learn things slow, then once you have them down, then practice your speed by increasing tempo a little at a time.
