That's how I've been doing it for thirty years.. Just don't press so hard with the blade. You don't want to cut the body, hold the blade close to parallel and let it ride smoothly on the polycarbonate.

Dude sick body. Looks plenty professional to me. Never painted one but a lot of good info. Thanks for the vid!

The hpcs is a beast of an airbrush. Works awesome, good all arounder and super durable. I will always vouch for iwata products. Nothing but good experiences with them.

Amazing paintjob!! I like this colour combination a lot! Maybe I try that scheme on my next body.

Awesome! Glad you like it , what model is your next body for?

you should try the Ryan harries method of just baking the body in the oven till its done and got the design and colout you desire.

Agree 100% prep is the hardest part. New to airbrush and liquid mask always used rattle cans. Painting is one of my favorite parts not great at but that will come in time. Still learning to cut the liquid mask without going to deep that is my struggle
@SeanyRC11 ай бұрын
Totally agree! Just takes time and patience and only one way to learn… do it!

I found putting a light behind the shell when you’re cutting your pin stripes helps highlite them. You’re right about cutting the outside. You sort of have to guess where the point will end up until the other cut is done. If you make a little mistake it’s no problem. That’s what stickers are for 👍

Nice job. Maybe consider some fades and drop shadows next time around. White nose faded into pink. Drop shadow for some depth on the "flames". Looking good.

Love your paint jobs 👌🏻. Are you able to spray the liquid mask through your iwata brush?
@SeanyRC11 ай бұрын
Thanks! Still learning all the time.. for sure not , it’s a .35mm needle , you’d want at least a 1mm plus size to have any chance!

be very interested on how the smaller guns work out on the smaller compressor, you still using the 1/4hp one from a previous video, i have the hobbynox compressor smaller of 2 and would love to spray mask but most say it cant,

I’m happy to pay someone else for a body that looks better than I could ever accomplish, but man job well done. I’ll stick to furniture building as my hobby that ends with something work keeping 😂

Hey Sean, a great video, thank you for sharing. I’ve been mostly painting using the Tamiya, CoreRC and Absima PS paint cans. I notice you’ve use the Vellejo Premium paints as well as the Hobbynox. Does the Vellejo paints hold up on the polycarbonate shell? Do you thin them at all? I was thinking of getting a compressor for my Gaahleri airbrush and having a go. What liquid mask do you use? Kindest regards John 😊😊
@SeanyRC20 күн бұрын
Hey! I use them straght from the bottle with no thinner and they are great , this is why I love them! Bitty Design mask :)

how did you have 2 layers of overspray film on the outside of the body? you had one you drew the outline on and then the regular one

Only 1 layer , I removed the pen with isopropyl alcohol cleaner rather than remove.. :)

Do you do paint shells for others or just for yourself? I'm looking for my hyper VSE shell to be painted. The teal works well with the pink

I don’t paint for others , I don’t think I’m at that standard yet! Plenty of awesome painters around!

do you have any issues with the body splitting at the mask cut lines? the pressure used looks enough to cut the shell out with cut and snap method,thanks
@SeanyRC9 ай бұрын
Not yet.. I do apply a fork pressure but not enough to split later down the line , especially on these kits bodys.

Can you brush in the liquid mask? I don’t have another gun, and taping off is a major pain
@SeanyRC9 ай бұрын
Yes you can :) just use a nice soft brush.
@brandonwilkie29277 ай бұрын
I use one of the brushes with a black foam tip and it seems to work pretty well. Usually do three coats of mask.

Kinda left out the whole step where you had to deal with the liquid mask, and all the pitfalls that come with applying it. Its great to show a painting tutorial, but if you leave our, arguably, the most important and critical step to the prep work, its all for naught.
