I know absolutely nothing about cars and this is a huge costly problem. It means whenever I have a car issue, I end up dropping that car into a garage to repair it and that gets real expensive, real fast. Not only are you paying 50% in labor costs alone, you're also paying the insane markups they charge for parts and services (including services you don't need!).
So I'm determined to learn all about cars myself. Learn how to service them, how to repair them, how to accessorize them and how to restore them. I may make a few mistakes along the way but I'm determined to stop being milked and bilked by excessive mechanic bills. If I can learn to do this, anyone can learn to do this.
So with that in mind, please join me on my journey into mastering the mystical magical mysterious world of mechanical motors!
In this first video, we're starting simple, we're looking at tire pressures! Do you know how to check your tire pressures? The difference between recommended and maximum tire pressures? Which type of inflator is best to use? Well if you don't, all of that is talked about in this exciting (for some people) video!

My favorite tire inflator is this Jayco. You can plug it into mains power or plug it into your 12V socket in your car. This means it's ideal for home use or on the road use:

Ok... I'm with it so far. Tyre pressure is just about around my ballpark level of knowledge! 👍

Hi mate! Nice first upload! Not just informative, but also funny! I worked in a tire shop for a while, and we didn't know if we should use the sticker or the tires recommended pressure either! Using the sticker is great until somebody orders extra large tires! Then you might find they're a little low, and it's all guesswork from there. If it doesn't look weird leaving the shop, we don't have problems!

Thank you for your comment. Yeah, seems to me that the sticker probably only covers the "Stock" tires that comes with the car or brands of similar spec. Monster truck tires should probably use the recommended pressure as per manufacturer. Either way, next video (providing it thaws soon) might be about removing that bloody big screw from the rear tire...

Or a dumpster fire, but at least it will be an entertaining dumpster fire!

The door jam tire pressure recommendations only apply to original equipment tire size. If you change to a new tire size, you MAY need to use a slightly different pressure. Ask the tire shop where you bought the new tires for a recommendation.

That's what I thought. No way a sticker is going to know what wheels I have on my car.

Brand yourself as a father figure that people come to learn practical skills from with you as you learn them

I would, but I'm not a father figure and I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't think people need to be lied to or misled. This channel is about me learning, other people seeing me learning and therefore they can learn themselves.

My rule of thumb is 32 psi if you are unsure of the recommended pressure should be. Tire wear seems to be pretty even at this pressure, I’ve found.

Thanks for the advice. The recommended tire pressure (on the door) is 25PSI which I figured was way low. The Max Pressure on the tire itself is 44PSI. I'm currently running 35PSI and that seems to be a good balance for the wet PNW roads (even managed to get over some really bad icy patches today).
