Learning Arcs Campaign with GuerricSamplesGames

We haven't touched Arcs since it's kickstarter was first launched and the game has changed a LOT over the course of development. And even more importantly, we now have access to the Campaign mode which is the part of Arcs we're most excited for.
So, today we wanted to try it out. Fair warning, no one in this video had played a game with the current rules, so this is first and foremost a LEARNING GAME. We play slow in it and work through rules errors and confusions. For a smoother, full playthrough of a campaign, stick around! We plan to keep playing Arcs and we'll do a stream in a few weeks where we're more well versed.
But if you like parsing things with us and getting an authentic look at learning a very complex game, stick around! Listen, Guerric is like a rules genius and even he didn't have all of this in his brain!

We're absolutely hooked on it and definitely intend on playing it a lot more, especially as it reaches completion. There's still some active development and we've seen a number of big rules changes even since this stream

Who would you recommend this game too? I like Root and Oath, but have never played twilight imperium.

Unless you specifically hate the main trick-taking mechanism I think you'll love it. The base game is one and done like Root and the campaign strings three games together in a manner like a Oath. It fits well between those two games

Good news, that's still specifically what they're working on. Maybe we should have been more explicit about that at the beginning of this stream but this is still very much a pre-release build of the rules and components. Some of the rules have even changed since this stream.

At 1:21:53 would the initiative have been seized? The turn was led with a 7. Earlier it was discussed that a 7 seizes, and there can only be one seize per turn.

Not clear to me if the top section of 3 is connected to bottom of 2 (same with 5/6) or do you need to go to a gate to get out of a system?

This is such a messy and terrible way to try and learn the game..

The gameplay has changed significantly since the original KS campaign, which is OK as the design matures and various balances are executed. The rulebook is not particularly clear at this point, but I'm sure that will be resolved. However, that "new" board is a hot mess. I understood the reasons Cole gave in terms of scale and indicating how to depict the physical distance between regions, but it's a very cluttered interface once the various colored tokens for ships, buildings and other doodads are placed. I backed a number of Leader games, but based on the sheer amount of changes thus far (map, gameplay, cards, roles, etc.) it seems this campaign was launched too early...

The early campaign launch was my problem from the beginning. I initially backed and then pulled out after watching early gameplay. Maybe it's just a SCPT thing, but now I like this game again and will probably pre order now...

The map has been sorted. It was a huge concern for me as well. (In the most recent Kickstarter update you can download the rules and take a look at it)
