Leaving behind Manila, I head into rural Cavite, just outside Tagaytay, to meet Rene Tongson, the head master of the Abaniko Tres Puntas system of classical Arnis.

The banana heart is used for stews. 2 examples of stews you can make with it is "Kare-Kare" a meat and vegetable stew with a thick broth flavoured with peanuts and atsuete (also known as annatto, it adds color too), the other is "Sinigang" another meat and vegetable stew but with sour broth (achieved using a variety of sour fruits like tamarind but that depends on who's cooking). Or as the driver says you can chop it up and stew it with coconut milk, green chili peppers, and meat. All delicious and served with rice.

Having studied this early on in my martial arts study, it was always a fascinating subject and nicely covered here. I have found the use of the two person drills to be really quite effective in improving hand / eye coordination as well.

While I may agree that the cadenilla is somewhat overused for demonstrations I would say that the primary purpose of its practice is to teach flow, so that the practitioner doesn't freeze in the moment of counterattack.

Hi, do you have any plan to make a documentary or video about bajiquan and piquazhang ?. Both are really interesting TCM that doesn’t get enough exposure globally. Personally I’m really curious about bajiquan and its practicality in real combat , even though they already have reputation as “bodyguard style” lol.

@@MonkeyStealsPeach nice… that means u should come to mengcun, cangzhou to investigate about bajiquan, but there is also a famous lineage of bajiquan in taiwan that comes from liu yuan qiao. Anyway its nice thing to know you have plan a trip. As an international student that is studying in china, I also already plan my trip which is around november. Because currently the embassy had opened the door for international student to came in, but the commercial ticket price still a bit expensive.

Monkey Steals Peach, Thank you very much for this and your other enlightening and informative videos! I have one question though. What would happen in a "one-count-strike system" if the attacker's weapon hand was incapacitated and his blade flew against the defender? How much damage would such a contact against the torso, for example, create? Since these systems were used in real fights until not long ago, there must be real-life experiences. The point here is that the attacker would not throw his blade in which case a hit would create enormous damage. Rather, the blade would fly out of his hand because he would not be able to hold onto the blade anymore. Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

@@MonkeyStealsPeach, Thank you very much for your quick reply. However, I do not participate in discussions on fora (I only take part in discussions on KZbin). It's considered as a part of ATP, and when you first learn footwork, you are taught to move out of the path of the blade, even after you cut the arm holding it.
