What I love about Filipino martial arts is that once you learn one system whatever it is you can pretty much make up your own flows based on the strikes offensive and defensive maneuvers to create “your own system“ it is truly the essence of what JKD is all about. I studied PIKITI TIRISIA back in the 80s and I have my own Sequence of strikes which work for me

Very nice video. I’d like to have all those sticks in the background. I guess that shotgun on the stick rack is in case a stick breaks. This man is very good with his Arnis , he reminds me of my teacher 60 yrs ago. I think the community would like more videos of this man.

I agree with him that disarming is feasible only if your opponent can't use the weapon properly. Otherwise, better dodge/run or have a weapon yourself
@AcissejMilliones-ph1ly
@AcissejMilliones-ph1ly Жыл бұрын
I don't agree your saying, because why? The true martial artist is not based you know and you didn't know how to use the weapon.. Even if you know how to handle the weapon then your opponent is a master on that you will defeat.

I immediately knew he had trained under Presas because Presas did that exact same technique on me back in the 90's... love the fun attitude of these GM's while still maintaining the seriousness of its capabilities. great knowledge in a world where it seems everyone just wants to get into a cage. Love Arnis but in a real ar is fight with two practitioners it is really hard to get into locks. The sticks make sure that the range is maintained. It’s brutal and involves taking and giving a whooping, including fractures as a result. The philosophy is to defang (break hands) rather than waiting for traps/locks.

What's really interesting as a HEMA practitioner is that these locks work much more often with daggers and shorter sticks because the range is harder to maintain once someone's thrown the first attack. There's a HEMA instructor here in Oklahoma, Kyle Toelle, who also does/did Arnis.

Probably because IRL, full contact real arnis fights end in less than a minute. It's originally created to be a technique used in wars where armies fight vs armies.
