Jeff did you ever get your launch dialed in on the Libelle or did it always curve to the left? I've had one for about a year and ended up creating some bad launch habits in an effort to get it to launch like some of the 1.5m models I've had a chance to launch (not my own). In watching some of my own launches on video, it appears that the wings may be flexing too much...maybe a bad technique on my part? Any advice? I know this was posted years ago

The right rudder compensation on a switch worked very well. I still have the glider but I don’t launch it anymore. It’s only a slope soaring airplane because I had some damage

great tips. my libelle will reach new heights now that I get the reason it was rolling on launch.

I loved flying my ZEN. I also had a NEO which was the earlier version of the ZEN. Never did hear what happened to the designer/builder of these planes from overseas. He just dropped off the face of the earth one day.

What was the location that you guys met up at? Because I live in the city of Orange in the OC and I'm always looking for good places to fly my dlg. Great video by the way.

Looks like Irvine next to the 5 fwy. If you are still looking for places to fly Eldorado park has a great place to fly Rc electrics and gliders.

I know it's an older video but came across it while searching about DLG's. It looks like a great hobby to do next to the helicopters I fly usaly. But there is one thing holding me back and that is I can't make the launch technique because of a rotten ankle and I mean limping and constant pain rotten. And the guy says it's all about the swing the get height. Is there a way to still do this hobby with an other way to launch and get decent height and flight times or am I doomed to fly stuff powered with a motor.
@bertvdlast6 жыл бұрын
Boy-Named-Zoen. As the guy said the launching of a DLG is pretty much fysic and there’s no other way to launch them(unless letting someone else do it). The only thing that comes close to it (if you don’t want to fly with a motor) is to buy/built a light 6/7 ft glider that you launch with a bungee cord.
@boy6named6zoen66 жыл бұрын
bertvdlast that's a bummer. Well it's back to flying helicopters I guess. Thanks for the info couldn't find a straight answer on the forums.
@7demo7review6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the launch is quite twisty so I think your screwed. You can take any dlg to the slope though. No need for an aggressive launch
@boy6named6zoen66 жыл бұрын
7demo7 that would be an option if there were any slopes around 😌. But thanks for the reply.
@Paiadakine2 жыл бұрын
At contests you can have a alternate launcher. Another option is F5K. Like F5J but for dlg.

This is where the libelle sucks... after some hard dlg launches the wings will twist :(
@7demo7review9 жыл бұрын
Yes, I saw your other comment- I'm mainly using this as a sloper so no problems man
@TheHarberHangar9 жыл бұрын
Don't launch it so hard...?... ;) Seriously though; it's a good practice plane to learn the motions and modes, but no one should expect it to really hold up to competition-launches.

You should come out to FliteFest Ohio some time. There are a couple of us that Fly DLGs at FliteFest. I have met and talked to Ben at FlietFest but I did not know he flies DLGs so maybe we can get him to fly with us. Here is a video FliteTest filmed with the people I know that fly DLGs at FLiteFest: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2PPe4aIa5arkNk
