This was wonderful Eric. It opened my eyes even further to how flawed the governing body's way of "reasoning" on the scriptures is. Thank you so much for showing us what true exegesis means when it comes to the scriptures. I remember clearly learning all these things on their interpretation of Daniels prophesies and how confusing it all seemed to me and how some brothers and sisters would constantly try to guess who the "new" king of the north/south was. The way you've presented here how to truly research through the Bible itself and not man's interpretation is such a beautiful gift to all who crave and seek truth. This is great, but also remember this is God's Word (John 1:1). Regardless of who wrote what part and when, it is His Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17). So first point of call would be to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide your reading (Ephisians 6:18-20) and let God give you wisdom (Psalm 119:130) and understanding, that your knowledge (Proverbs 2:6) (what you've read in the bible) may be recieved and then applied correctly (Luke 11:28) (James 1:22). If anyone doesn't agree with my references please be clear as to why so we can build each other up (Ephesians 4:29) (Proverbs 27:17). God bless.

@BeroeanPickets5 жыл бұрын
I'm trying to view that prophesy without any preconceptions. Verse 41 seems to be speaking of Rome, which we know became weak but only over the course of centuries. The statue does not portray any other kingdom after Rome. The Kingdom was set up "in the days of those kings". All the kingdoms depicted in the vision existed in the time of Christ, and that was sent Yehowah set up the Messianic Kingdom. (Ps 110:1) Verse 45 says "The Grand God has made known to the king what will happen in the future." But it doesn't indicate a time, only that all the kingdoms represented by the statue will be eliminated by the Kingdom of God.

Thank you Eric for your video as always ! I'm more listener than commenter but I have couple points to touch.I feel we deal with some logical fallacy here with regard how to avoid "human interpretation" of the Bible but I will keep this for later perhaps.I do consider this as very complicated and philosophical topic.In fact this is the weakest point of Christian religion.Interpretation is historicly the main factor of division and fragmentation of Christianity. As a Christian I do struggle with logical reasoning sometimes. Christianity is based on written codex/book thus interpretation of this book is a key factor.That is what your video was about .My point or question for now is . How can one assure consistency of interpretation of his written instructions? Aka manuals. All manufactures struggle with producing efficient and correct manuals for their products.In fact some employed whole department of people for that. For example IKEA as one of one the most famous and common decided to use pictograms as assembly instructions in order to simplify and help to assemble their products still annually thousands are not able to properly understand the language of pictures therefore can't assemble their products without assistance or damage than returning the products with feedback or complain that instruction were not clear or confusing. To add more to the confusion can you imagine that the instruction manual will not be released from begging ? Let say if they producing a chair for 2 years and they start to print manual only after first year of production. Can't almighty Creator do better than man in this respect ? Moreover if our lives depend on correct interpretation /understanding. Appreciate your thoughts on that.

The Qur'an does not reject reading the Bible. Instead, it gives many positive references concerning the Bible and the importance for Muslims to read it: "Lo! We did reveal the Torah, wherein is guidance and a light" (Sura 5:44). "And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil)" (Sura 5:46). "It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong)" (Sura 3:3). "And be not thou of those who deny the revelations of Allah, for then wert thou of the losers" (Sura 10:95). In addition, the Qur'an calls the Bible the Word of God (kalam Allah) in Sura 2:75, the Book of God (kitab Allah) in Sura 2:101; 3:23; 5:44; 28:49, and the enlightening book in Sura 3:184. Further, the Qur'an teaches that Allah Himself sent the Law (of Moses) and the Gospels: "It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong)" (Sura 3:3). The Qur'an calls the Bible, or parts of the Bible, a light (Sura 5:44, 46), an example (Sura 11:17), and a warning (Sura 17:4). It also states that the authors of the Bible were inspired (Sura 4:163; 5:111). In many places and a variety of ways, the Qur'an's teachings overwhelming support the importance of the Bible and permit Muslims to read and learn from it.

@tonyspare24685 жыл бұрын
This was informative and insightful, but please list the source material you used, unless you came to all of these conclusions alone and put these things together yourself, if so you are quite scholarly. Most of us though must find source material and build from there. I say this because most if not all the conclusions were discovered by the Catholic church over the last 2000 years. Now parallel thought certainly can occur, but to this degree I think you are helping people understand the need for study but the idea of just picking up your bible and connecting these kinds of dots is a high task for anyone. Why not acknowledge the people who have tread these paths for thousands of years?
@BeroeanPickets5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I didn't list sources because there were none. I'm not saying that others before me did not come to these conclusions as I did, but I am saying that I came to them using only the Bible. That is the whole point of this exercise, to demonstrate the tools that anyone can use to learn what the Bible says without being influenced by outside sources. Why would you want to discourage that? Why suggest that "most of us...must find source material and build from there". That is a very demeaning statement and sets a dangerous premise. It lays the groundwork for again falling prey to the eisegetical thinking of others. For instance, you're allegation that the Catholic church discovered all this 2000 years ago is false. At best, you can claim the church began with the counsel of Nicea, and even that can be challenged.
@tonyspare24685 жыл бұрын
@@BeroeanPickets Fair enough my points on the Catholic faith were not precise. My main point was not to discourage you, but to point out that this is not an original premise by far and to please acknowledge that, less you become a leader. As far as it being a demeaning statement, I think that would only apply to those with pride, and not humble bible readers who acknowledge the need for hearing material from people who were used by God to bring the bible to you and I, and as you mention, have only been discussing it since the counsel of Nicea...sounds like a good place to start. But a bible training based in JW dogma may suit light bible analysis. I do know that the Church has done much for the good of the bible, and have many good things uncovered. To disagree with that is only pride, the pride that the JWs , (who despise Catholics more than anyone I have encountered) are very well known for. I am a former pioneer and do understand the challenge of looking into other information, but I had to realize that my own background, my bible training, was flawed. That is why, I believe, you so easily dismiss fundamental ideas like the Trinity. You still have "no go zones" of theology that are completely based in JW dogma. I am now asserting too much, probably just responding in kind to the response that my original thought was meant to silence thought and study, my point was to merely recognize there is an easier way that only requires humility to discover.
@LosBereanos5 жыл бұрын
@@tonyspare2468 I freely acknowledge that in all likelihood, every point I've made in all my videos has probably been made before. After all, Christians have been around for 2,000 years give or take. The point I'm trying to make is best summed up by the words of people who were amazed at Jesus teaching. “. . .And they were astounded at his way of teaching, for he was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.” (Mr 1:22) You see, the scribes would always refer back to the research made by some previous authority, some rabbi's research would become the basis for their teaching. Jesus never did this. He spoke with authority. Now of course I am not Jesus, but I have his words and you do to. So when we speak, let us not base our teaching on what other men say, but on what Christ has said. Pride would lead us to call upon the authority of our church authority, be they JW, Catholic, or otherwise. Humility will allow us to teach the proper method of Bible research so that the power of understanding does not come from past ecclesiastical authorities, but from the Word of God which all have in their own hands and all should learn to understand for themselves. True, others may guide and help, but in the end, all should be able to base their faith on what they have themselves understood from Scripture. As for the trinity, I deserves an extensive examination. I don't encourage anyone to accept nor reject it out of hand, but rather to look for themselves as what the Bible teaches using exegesis as the methodology. I intend to do this in a future video.

If this is a message for the unlettered and ordinary then God hasn't done a very good job of getting the correct understanding over has he? I think all we can take from the Bible are a number of principles. BTW, the biggest elephants in the room as far as being a Christian is concerned, and these are two things that Jesus believed in, are the Flood and Jonah in the fish. You need to tackle those first. I will explain the reason for that link in my next video. But a brief explanation should suffice here. The money is not for me. I have enough to live on and don't take donated money for personal use. However, there are many costs in producing these videos and in maintaining the three web sites, and were it not for the donations, I would not be able to do it as I now do, as I don't have the funds. Additionally, there are goals we've set for ourselves to increase the outreach of the message, but these require us to come up with even more money. If you consider the context of the verse you've used to make your point, you'll notice that just a few verses earlier Paul said, "“. . .For it is written in the Law of Moses: “You must not muzzle a bull when it is threshing out the grain.” Is it bulls that God is concerned about? Or is it actually for our sakes that he says it? It was really written for our sakes, because the man who plows and the man who threshes ought to do so in the hope of receiving a share. If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material support from you?” (1Co 9:9-11) My video was to help my brothers and sisters to learn to use exegesis in understanding scripture and I fear you've missed the point and fallen prey to eisegetically thinking. No offense intended. I realize that men have abused the use of donated funds, and thus any mention of money is seen as negative, exploitative and self-serving. But how would you feel, as a christian guided by love, if someone invited you out to a restaurant on a regular basis and always chose to pay for everyone? Would you think it wrong to offer to help out?

Hi Eric, we're on the same page in oh so many things, more than any other ex-jw channel. You are still a Witness, however; of Jesus and Jehovah, but not a "Watchtower's Witness" any more. In my opinion, theology should come under 'Fredom of Speach'. It's alright to think about any theology as long as you do it with your own mind and not with the mind of someone else. The problem comes with intolerance of other people's ideas and ideals. No man living today knows the absolute truth. First of all, we don't live long enough to fact-check all that we've been told and all the opinions we have formed in our lives. This fact alone should humble us and prepare us to change over our minds when confronted with 'better' explanations. The Watchtower would be justified in its existence if it would simply admit its shortcomings and not persecute dissenters. The 'whole truth and nothing but the truth' we will only have when we die, when all theory becomes reality. Maybe this fact can take a little bite out of death. Only two things can happen when we reach the true end: nothing or everything. At least death brings certainty. It would be nice, however, to have a little of that certainty before that terrible event occurs, and we can get our act together in time for the Lord to judge us favorably. In the meantime, we must always strive not to sin against God's Holy Spirit, most primarily in the matter of love, because God's Holy Spirit is mainly composed of love and we are compelled by His love to show this unconditional love to others and to not make other people small and ourselves big. Love your plattform, Eric. You're quite prolific and you seem to be enjoying your work, but allow proper rest and recreation for yourself because 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. Take care, Bro!

Hi Eric If we let the bible tell us , what is Daniel told to except Daniel 12:13 , that after the 1335 days, he would rise . So Daniel died and rested in death then as promised he would stand up on the last day of the 1335 days. Just has Jesus told Martha John 11:23-24 As you quoted Mathew 24:30-31has this happened at any time no it has not . Revelation was written after the destruction of Jerusalem and Jesus ,in 14:1 stands with Gods people on mount Zion having been resurrected and Daniel is one of them. This all means there is a fulfilment at the end of the days Remember we love truth it is life. the opposite is death . This is from bible hub of revival after death Daniel 12:13 (late for קוּם). At the end of the 1335 days, so when it starts 1335 days later all Gods people are resurrected and stand on mount Zion revelation 14:1

How is it that Christianity keeps applying things to themselves 2000 years later? They have done this for 2000 years! What is going to happen in 100, 200, 500, 1000 years from now? Will Christianity still keep on applying things to themselves even though things in the bible were written for people back then. Pauls letters were directed to whom? to us 2000 years later? to you? or to congregations back then? Why is it Christians keep doing this? When Paul stated very clearly that they were waiting for the lords return then? Plus Jesus has already been debunked. Move on. Ceasars Messiah. Jesus was invented by the Romans.

Bien fraternellement.
@vintage63464 жыл бұрын
personne personne says, "The reasoned methodology, simple and clear, which is in use here, contrasts nicely with confused explanations of elected officials or presumed as such, who instrumentalize the texts in order to serve political interests or a so-called theocratic power. I myself had the opportunity to discuss the very fanciful interpretation of 2300 evenings and mornings in the early 90s, with a prominent representative of the branch who assured me that it was outdated, but that it was my surprise to find this "heresia" during an assembly a few years later, the teaching unit is not therefore an intangible principle. The same is true of 1914, which resurfaced in a Watchtower, studied in September 2020, when the majority of Governing Body and many elders no longer believe in it for a few years. A century of preparatory establishment for a government when it is urgent, it will be irresponsibility or negligence on the part of its leader. So these false teachings undermine our message of "truth". Very fraternally"

The Superior Court of the State of California in and for the County of San Mateo Case: Jason E. Cobb vs Ernest Brede Case Number: CIV508137 Case Date: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Judge: Honorable Jonathan E. Karesh In this case, Watchtower lawyer, Calvin Rouse, esq. states "And I say "organization." I am general counsel for the National Organization of Jehovah's Witnesses out of Brooklyn, New York. Ordinarily, I wouldn't be here, but this is one of our 13,000 congregations in the United States. We are a hierarchical religion structured just like the Catholic Church. And when the order from the Pope comes down in the church defrocking a priest and kicking him out, he no longer has any say in any matter in the local parish priest -- in the parish." Lawyer, Calvin Rouse, plainly states that the Jehovah's Witnesses have a hierarchy like the Catholic church. Shocking statements from the "true" religion. Then, years down the road, Watchtower is asking for money to support their "Catholic Church". Can you not see why Watchtower cannot get their people to donate. The publishers are disgusted with their religion for their hypocrisy.

The Bible is contradictory in theory. 1.) God is loving apparently but at times he did not forgive and killed whole groups of people, including children. Innocent children. 2.Then he did not kill Saul for stoning Steven. If fact he was never punished but made into a servant of God.
@BeroeanPickets5 жыл бұрын
You ask a reasonable question. So, what would you have had him do to deal with Stephen properly?
@JayZoop5 жыл бұрын
Consistency in punishment. Murdering a messenger of God is a serious thing and the punishment should be serious, but not death if they thought they were doing the right thing at the time. Here’s another contradiction in God’s judgement. Act 5: 1-11. Ananias and his wife sold some land, and they did not give all of their profits to the apostles, that they may have agreed upon. Because of them holding back money, they were struck dead on the spot. And mind you, this happened after Jesus already went to heaven. So much for forgiveness!! That type of money agreement is like something that Scientologists do. “If you don’t pay this amount of money, you wont be able to advance to the next level of Scientology, or you will be demoted!”
@BeroeanPickets5 жыл бұрын
First of all, Saul didn't murder Stephen, but he did approve of the action. (Acts 8:1) Now when Ananias and Saphira were confronted with their sin, they lied and hid it. When Saul was confronted with his sin, he repented. So Saul was forgiven because he repented and Ananias and wife were not forgiven because they didn't repent. Since you presume to judge God's judicial methods, how would you have done a better job?
@JayZoop5 жыл бұрын
Beroean Pickets I see your point. It was more of a judgement of the heart, not necessarily the result of their action. I just still think they should not have been killed if you really think about it. People do make mistakes, especially when money is involved. Forgive and build a person up. And again, the money arrangement that they had was kind of really weird.
@JayZoop5 жыл бұрын
Beroean Pickets Maybe these stories of the Bible didn’t all really happen. Maybe they were stories to get a point across. That’s why they are so over-the-top, and making God look like a non-forgiving person at the time. Very Very unfair for god to judge a person the moment that they fail. Very Very unfair that whole cities would be wiped out. Sometimes I wonder if they really did happen.

If you explained Daniel 12 :1 bro. How do you explain Daniel 12:2 ? Maybe Daniel 12 has two fulfillments bro , and it is taking about the true people of God as well as explained by John in John 1:11. Also explained plainly by Paul and all the apostles and the prophecies of the holy prophets. The Jews are not God’s people anymore; if they were, Jehovah would had said something contradictory in Deuteronomy 18:18,19 and more specific it is explained in Acts 3:22,23. “Those who do not listen to Jesus will be completely destroyed “ So , how can Michael will defend what Jehovah will destroy. People need to subject themselves to Jehovah’s Christ in order to be part of God’s new society on earth. After all how can Jesus rule over people who do not believe that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords and more important God only-begotten Son Revelation 19:16; Psalm chapter 2? Daniel chapter 12:2 speaks of the resurrection by Jesus, so Daniel 12:1 is definitely talking about the time of the end Daniel 12:2; John 5:28,29; Revelation 11:18. We need to pray for Jehovah’s Holy Spirit to helps us understand. John 16: 13 . Please read John 16:1-16 bro. The people whom rebelled against Moses whom like Jesus was talking out the people to the promised land got lost . We need to keep together in order to be blessed by Jehovah. Jehovah will know what to do with any wrong doing on his appointed time. Acts 17:31. But to complete rely on Jehovah and Jesus, they need to be alive in our hearts bro. So repent and turn around! It is a Jungle out there! Satan wants to make us worship others gods. Get free ! Escape from Satan’s snares. It is not a good business been a lone sheep. It’s not a choice at all. Keep on walking with those who worship Jehovah alone and are free from the pollution of other gods. Look! When you remove your witnesses hat , they will invite you to get polluted with their celebrations! And probably you will start fighting against Jehovah....Think about it. After all, it is better to have a low profile; you have more chances that the lord put you in a high place for been humble and wait on him and rely completely on our powerful God. Remember Moses wasn’t allowed by Jehovah to cross the Jordan! Too bad for those who could cross the Jordan, but didn’t have a waiting attitude!

Lucille, you are asking questions that are already answered in the video. However, your last points resonates with what most Witnesses claim, because they've been taught to view anyone who disagrees with the Governing Body as Korah. What they fail to see is that this comparison puts the governing body in the position of Moses. After all, people like myself who are attacking the false teachings of the governing body can hardly be compared to Korah unless the governing body assumes the place of Moses, correct? I'm not attacking the teachings of Jesus Christ, nor of Jehovah, but only the interpretations of the governing body. With that in mind consider this Scripture:“. . .“The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of Moses.” (Mt 23:2) You see the only Moses that we have today is Jesus Christ. He is the greater Moses. “. . .In fact, Moses said: ‘Jehovah your God will raise up for you from among your brothers a prophet like me. You must listen to whatever he tells you.” (Ac 3:22) It's something you should give it prayerful thought to.
