When the brother said he want his young sister to go to university, I can't help crying. He is a good brother, although life is not easy, but everything is possible with family.

My God, they speak Korean like a native. I get why the younger one is fluent and accent free, but the brother that came over when he was 14 ... wow, really impressed that he has no accent.

What a shame that he wasn't able to get an education - you can tell he is a very bright person to have picked up the language so well!

Why is it surprising? Especially at that age, it's should be as surprising as an African American speaking English.

@@Cxs1a3 I expect fluency from younger ones. But one that came over when he was 14 speaking accent free is little surprising. It's easy to obtain fluency. But it's nearly impossible to be accent free after the age of 10, 11, or 12.

Depends on the environment, if it's a multicultural, multiethnic place like NA/EU, then maybe. But keep in mind Korea is extremely monoethnic, monocultural, monolingual.

The brother that said he couldnt learn even if he wanted to....bro you learned KOREAN at 14 !!! 😮‍💨 that's more brain power than some full blown adults here in the USA. They can barely write.

I kept getting recommended this documentary so I finally clicked on it and i'm so glad i did~ All the kids have such a positive attitude and idk if it's cause I was an immigrant in America, but it's so nice to see how they are adjusting to life in Korea. I hope they have success and continue to grow and thrive~ Love to see it

These people have a Korean background in their blood. Countries like Syria, Afanistan,Yemen, Kazakhstan, etc are a conflict and war zone countries and children like Soyoung and Fatima have to suffer. Pray for these types of countries.

true, but school in korea is way more intensive and competitive. i know shes like in elementary school so the hours are basically like 0800 - 1300 sometimes later for extracurricular stuff, but if we are talking about high school, thats a whole new ballpark lol. school is basically from 0900 - 2200, sometimes later, due to evening self-studies (its the kids choice to do this, but college is super competitive so they gotta do all this extra stuff

Maybe the aunt knows the story of the man and his sister. They may know each other. It's just an expression of interest. The older brother makes money for his younger sister and the younger sister is cute and smart. The aunt was moved by their brotherhood.
