Meet with Diona, a former US nursing officer and a school teacher on a U.S military base in South Korea.
Her job is taking care of about 800 students at school, and her two daughters at home as well. Her co-parenting partner, Kyuhyung, who works as a firefighter, has helped her with kids for three-year paternity leave.
However, thing's been changing since her husband was about to be back to work. Diona's worries mount as the day approaches.

As a Korean'American, who is also familiar with a lot of Korean cultural norm, these 2 are supportive and also definitely love each other beyond the regular. Wife, who is culturally adapting and working, husband,who is silently dealing with cultural stereotypical bias in a homogeneous country. I know for sure this coverage does not cover 100% of each of their sacrifice, manifesting their love for each other and their family. I sincerely hope this family only the. Whoever did the subtitles needs to be fired. They are not at all on time. We hear the korean, theres a pause, and then the translation appears for one second and disappears before you can even read it. Who hired this person??

Kids will always test u to see how far they can push the boundaries. The crying is to see if u will give in and let them do what they want. Unfortunately u have to go through these so that u can see what works for u and the kids, what discipline can be implemented when they don't listen. You'll find your way, it just takes time, error, time out for yourself and a lot tears out of frustration

In China, your nationality usually refers to what city you are born in. The larger the city, the better the benefits. Each city has its own system of benefit distribution. I believe Korea follows a similar system. I think the Korean daycare owner was trying to see if country of origin would offer some leave and direct her based on that. Perhaps her embassy or consulate has benefits for citizens abroad. Unfortunately, since she is American, we dont have paid maternity leave and the director was able to give advice based on that. Hope that helps.
