CRAZY Training Session with Steven Seagal - Learn Secret MARTIAL ARTS Techniques
Welcome back to “Steven Strangles People”. Today, I am sharing a video about a CRAZY Training Session with Steven Seagal. The martial arts legend Steven Seagal spends 24 hours with Jesse Enkamp, teaching him all of his fight secrets along the way. Steven Frederic Seagal is an American actor, screenwriter, and martial artist. A 7th-dan black belt in aikido, he began his adult life as a martial arts instructor in Japan, becoming the first foreigner to operate an aikido dojo in the country. He later moved to Los Angeles where he had the same profession.

Rotating fist vs vertical: in a street fight, you just want to be fast and first. While the rotating fist generates more power, the vertical fist is quicker and harder to see coming. Most people that throw a rotating fist, telegraph it by first raising their elbow. The elbow is kept down with the vertical fist, which hides the striking action.

For years he used his physical size....not prowess....to intimidate. Since that failed he has doubled as the Pillsbury Doughboy and the Michelin Tire guy. I think he may be a have written a cook book on how to cook any food using Dunkin Doughnuts.

A low arm is simply no match for a fast moving leg. I once tried a similar block in light sparring with my Sensei. Last second he altered the angle of his kick and thrust it straight out towards my lower abdomen. Instinctively I tried moving backwards and still got kicked hard. As for my poor wrist, it ended up colliding with his ankle and broken. I couldn't drive for 3 months afterwards whilst it gradually healed. Really bad move, especially as our Sensei was training us to always circle away from the incoming kick before making any sort of attempt to block or redirect it.

I was watching Jesse's video with Stephen Wonderboy today. And the contrast is amazing. Amazing MMA fighter that's humble with zero destroy brainstem nonsense. @georgefoley9793
@georgefoley9793 2 жыл бұрын
Pak Sao is fairly effective in sparring; just slap the opponent's hand just enough off from the center line, preferably by the elbow, so that you could squeeze in a fast punch (vertical is easier to squeeze through, in my experience). Works very well in my Karate sparring most of the time - I cross train.

Anderson Silva released a book explaining some of his techniques back when he was P4P King, he used a vertical fist for straight punches and hooks if I remember correctly. Jack Dempsey also advocated using a vertical fist for his " straight blast" which Bruce Lee used as the basis for his lead punch in JKD. Granted the overwhelming majority of fighters advocate for landing with a horizontal fist but there are notable exceptions. I would call my mother about this but she's dead.

I agree with those who say Aikido isn't efficient in MMA, or vs boxing Thai, kickboxing... Aidiko however is extremely useful when facing a drunk/ drugged out person. I only had 2 years of casual practice and easily and safely took out a drunk who was aggresive and loud. Rear neck choke. Didn't even have to parry his jab. Just moved straight towards him and stepped on his side (Ura) when he thought he'd connect. He tried to elbow my rib cage but I kept him close. He passed out. I layed him on the floor and he regained composure within 10 seconds. All his anger was gone and we parted ways very peacefully. Things would have surely turned out differently if he was a thai / karate/ trained fighter. But somehow, in that scenario, Aikido worked fine. If I was a puncher, he'd probably be concussed and bleeding, leading to potential lawsuit. Not all techniques apply in every situation.
@MrKoblepot
@MrKoblepot 2 жыл бұрын
Could work against random normal persons. Already applied irimi nage on people from karate throwing punch. Then once again the biggest deal is that in many aikido school the pace of training is slow, you have to train it with good speed and a real punch coming up to you and not foreseen to stop 10cm before your head. Concerning the use in MMA, with gloves and shit would be difficult plus a trained fighter is gonna do you feints etc...

Steven Seagal's biggest martial arts advantage is being a very solid 6' 4" guy. That's really going to help. Then he has also practiced 'the basics' over a lifetime...punching, kicking, locks, grips. That's also going to help. And if much of the rest is complete and utter BS, he's still got a solid base from which to operate.
@laeioun
@laeioun 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can call this BS. The point of these Japanese arts is warfare, not scoring points. Imagine you want to take every able-bodied person in a village and add them to an army, how are you going to make sure the training works for everyone? You give them weapons, swords, spears, and shields, and you have them train the basics together. You want these basics to work immediately, not after years of building muscle and sparring, but right now. Do you want untrained people trying to strike with their shoulders popping out and injuring themselves? No. So, you teach them a vertical orientation of striking. Less injuries makes them more effective. Look at Bruce Lee, he mastered his body mechanics and built up strength to the point where his side kicks became as deadly as a speeding car. The old martial arts were created for a particular purpose from a sound methodology that still applies today. People just think it's BS because they lack imagination.

@@laeioun There might be many valid reasons to practice, say, Aikido...and quite a few other martial arts besides. Fitness...spiritual...aesthetics. And fair enough. But I think the runs are on the board in terms of its combat effectiveness. It simply isn't a very effective combat art nor is it easy and quick to learn. There are much quicker, more effective ways if combat is the intention. Practice it by all means...but don't delude yourself in terms of what it offers in the way of combat effectiveness.
@laeioun
@laeioun 2 жыл бұрын
@@josepharmand6117 Aikido was derived from an older art. I am talking about where Aikido comes from and what it represents historically/traditionally, not how it's taught today in a modern context. What is taught as Aikido today still preserves useful principles, but Aikido instructors don't often encourage students to spar and make their techniques work against resisting opponents. Aikido techniques can be very useful.
@josepharmand6117
@josepharmand6117 2 жыл бұрын
@@laeioun Sure, like I said, there can be many reasons to study Aikido. But don't fool yourself about its combat effectiveness. It just isn't...and a primary reason for that is the fact it is never pressure-tested in training or tried against a resisting opponent. There may be isolated techniques that are effective in certain circumstances. But there are far quicker martial arts to learn, that are pressure tested, and that are of proven effectiveness in a combat situation. kzbin.info is an interesting watch about an Aikido teacher who starts to question the effectiveness of his art.
@laeioun
@laeioun 2 жыл бұрын
@@josepharmand6117 You're not getting it. The constraint of Aikido is that there is no striking, which allows it to be entirely dedicated to perfecting the art of using your opponent's energy. If at any moment you want to do a strike, then don't try Aikido, because there are no strikes in Aikido. No shit Aikido isn't effective by itself, it was never meant to be used as a standalone art, it was designed to supplement other arts, not replace them. The founder of Aikido mastered other arts before he started teaching Aikido, so consider his intent. It's redundant to talk about Aikido's combat effectiveness in scenarios that Aikido simply isn't designed to cover... It's like saying that the combat effectiveness of a punch is zero once someone is outside the range of a punch... No shit... Combine your typical striking art with Aikido and you'll find out how Aikido principles help you to be less wasteful of energy.

He would bring a copy of Bruce Lee's notebooks to show us the notes they would take - seems Lee and his students would go to other dojos to take notes on other styles to see what they could see was useful. You mentioned evolving understanding of martial arts - I got to see exactly that. Guru Inosanto told us how when they first saw Muay Thai and in their notes the mentioned the teep which at the time they just saw as a front kick. Guru told us that didn't understand the use of the teep at the time for the EXACT reason you mentioned, our understanding of martial arts is ever evolving.

@@Meaty33 I wold have to search for this couse I saw it years ago, there were couple people present at the scene, some security guard or two, some stuntman, cameraman and of course Gene and Seagal, from what I remember all of them said the never saw Gene choking Steven unconscious and him supposedly shiting himself, I remember for sure that I saw cameraman testimony on yourube when he said they get in some beef, that Gene come closely to Steven to show him some choke but Seagall didn't want him to and did move like bowing down and punching him in the crotch or something like this, then Gene used throw him on the ground, later Seagall get up and they were like ok thats it nothing happened, and this was the story as he said, also I remember someone from the crew who wasn't exactly there but was working on the set saying that nobody heard the story of Seagall shiting his pants on the set and undoubtly it would be the news of the day among ther cast if it really happen, aside of Gene nobody repeat the story (none of the people present when it happened) and considering Gene like to make jokes (like he choked people unconscious and poured the water on their crotch to later when they woke up he laugh and said they pissed they pands, that kind of jokes) so considering this, that he is the only one to said it and that in one interview when he was asked about it he didn't said it was true but instead something like: "Everyone wants to be a hero in their own stories, so I want to be too" etc what points out that he may not be telling the exact true. Anyway Im sure you will do your own unbiased research on the topic:)

All he does is cater to weebos, Aiki-Betas, and Seagal fanbois.....assuring them that Seagal isn't the delusional, pathological liar who likely at no point in his life ever put his "fighting skills" to the test. He even makes sure to selectively interview Stunt men who work/worked with Seagal to assure them all that Jean Lebell was lying about literally choking the *&^% out of Seagal.

I disagree, my muay thai coach is in his late 50s but hes the real deal. He coaches professional boxers, kickboxers and muay thai fighters (used to be a professional kickboxer himself) and I know this for a fact because I see him on tv in the corner when his fighters win fights and championships. I understand your point but saying any gym/any coach is a fraud for not sparring is dumb.

@@Tj-vk1dw of course at a certain age, you limit or stop sparring completely, but I’m sure your coach did at one point and perhaps even competed at high levels. @@kenjilaw4223 my judo coach is 60 with a pacemaker and 30% use of his heart, and he spars with us. His name’s Tarek Moneir, former Egyptian Olympian and did work coaching the US team. I’ve been a brown belt for 2 years under him, incredible guy. My bjj coach Paulo Santana is 140 pounds and rolls with EVERYONE and smashed them, even 200+ pound brown and black belts. I’m a blue belt with him. I’d drive the extra distance because they produce the best people in each art, there’s a lot of BS gyms and usually not sparring is a bad sign from the coach.

Aikido is half/half legit martial art, what I mean by that is that Aikido has quite a few techniques that work, but the vast majority of it is just a demonstration bs that won't work at all, I am an Aikido practitioner myself and what I think should be done is to first of all add a legit stance that would protect you, secondly remove the whole throwing stuff that doesn't work, for example the aiki otoshi technique works well or the koshi nage still can be made effective, but there are lots of techniques that are useless, so we need to remove them or make a 2 side story like the effective and combat techniques are in one part and the others are separated and used for demonstrations like kata, so doing that we can make aikido more good looking in terms of martial arts, another thing is a little bit against the practices and traditions, but as the best defense is offense, we need to add some attacking moves to aikido, another thing to do is to change the whole hand breaking thing on the ground when the technique is finished and there is the break that is left, it is mainly seen in ikkyo, nikkyo, sankyo, yonkyo etc., so we need to change the whole breaking pose and way, so that it would be less dangerous and more efficient to perform. That's the main issues, but that is only the tip of the iceberg, aikido needs to be changed dramatically for it to become useful for nowadays scenarios, and for that all the aikidokas out there should be open for critique and they should learn other martial arts to make their own better, In my opinion a person never should learn only one martial art, one should study them all and create one's own unique style of fighting, that's what Bruce Lee said, and that's what I think is the correct way of learning marital arts!
