My favorite fighter of all time. I was a young kid watching Bas Rutten fights on VHS, and doing that by finding random copies of MMA or fighting videos in Blockbuster stores or other shops, and switching the movies out for a kids title! You are the best, El Guapo!

This is awesome! I love Bas. I was a young man during the early days of MMA. I was at the end of my tour of duty in the Navy when the UFC was born. I remember seeing commercials for it on VHS tape rentals. Bas is one of the best OGs of MMA. He was also one of the best ringside commentators ever. I fell in love with the liver shot because of him. It’s my favorite TKO of all time. Thanks to Steven and Bas for this amazing episode.

After I lost my first amateur MMA fight me and my girlfriend drove from Vancouver,Canada 🇨🇦 all the way to west lake village in Los Angeles California so I would visit his gym and train with him. He thought the mixed levels bang Muay Thai class and was very humble and of course gave me priceless feedback to correct my techniques . He’s a savage even though he’s almost 60 years old ! And of course a gentleman. One of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met in my life.

I remember the absolute banger he had with Randleman and arguments with friends on who won. Once I pointed out to friends Randleman only fought 1/2 a fight and how Randleman started taking damage, gassed, While he was getting takedowns He was sitting in Bas's guard mount minimal offense, and taking damage every time he tried to posteur up.
