Yeah I think Dan conflated that figure from last year. The preliminary review of the incident did say that the helicopter controller at the time was also directing airplanes coming in due to the shortage, something that should not be the case and pretty obviously contributed to any oversight they made.

It is not factual. They estimate they should have 14k controllers and currently have 11k. They hired 1500 last year. I'm a big fan of the show. I don't mind them having fun and being wrong on sports, it's just sports. But the serious stuff deserves some actual fact checking.

Jeff Wise interview was really good. I like the shenanigans but this subject matter didn't need comedy so I was fine with the dry nature of the interview. The part at the end about the flight path being implemented only last year because of a Kansas politician was very enlightening. It seems to line up with the Boeing allegory where even Air Traffic Control is beholden to constantly looking for ways to save and make money. Squeezing more flights in with more flight plans, safety be damned, gets us to situations like now. Trump is absolutely a dipshit, but this crash is the result of political maneauvers in the past in a steady drip to deregulate, skimp on safety, reduce overhead, and increase profits to line pockets. The blood is on politician's hands, not any single person. They worked together to create this mess because of their greed.

I agree with Amin we have to get to some point where regardless of what side of the fence you sit you can agree that your fence is also sometimes wrong. It’s tough because I speak to my Democratic friends and they criticize the party more than I hear Conservatives criticize the party because I only ever hear conservative talk shit about the party not ever say anything actually a value and then I speak to my conservative friends who do not support Trump give critical reasoning behind why they don’t agree with his policy, but when it comes to Trump supporters and I’ve never heard them admit that Trump has ever done anything wrong, which is clearly impossible and wrong. Wow. This is the episode that finally did it for me. Ive been listening and watching Dan religiously since highly questionable. I was stoked that Dan started a podcast so I could listen to his content everyday at work to help me get thru my construction job. But unfortunately, Ive watched him go from the funniest sports 'analyst' that made me laugh daily, (with one of the best segments of celebrity prognosticator) to Dan Libtard.
