Namaskaram Rasikas,
Today I would like to share a story with you from the time when Brindamma lived with us in Bombay and taught music to a group of us. I owe my discipline and perspective towards music to her teaching methods. Hope you find it interesting and enjoy listening to the anecdote.
Until next time…
*About Aruna Sairam*
Aruna Sairam (Padma Shri) is a Carnatic vocalist, composer, collaborator, humanitarian, and speaker. In addition to her performances in India, Aruna has taken Carnatic music to the global arena, at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. Currently Vice Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi, she was appointed in 2008 by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as Advisor to the Department of Culture. Aruna works towards the musical education of underprivileged students, through the Nadayogam Trust, which she founded in 2011. Aruna is grateful for the training she received under her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman and the legendary T. Brinda, and the mentorship from several masters throughout her musical journey. Her music erased geographic borders when she was the first to incorporate Abhang, a Western Indian musical form, into a traditional, South Indian concert.

Aruna Amma, you are such a down to earth personality and its such a delight to attend your concerts and get the opportunity to talk to you after the concerts. I share your #ArunaSays series with my son who is learning carnatic music now. You are a great mentor to this current and future generation of musicians.

Aruna Ji. One thing that marks you apart from the wide accomplished spectrum of musicians is the dignity with which you carry yourself. And - your dedication, knowledge, bhavam and your Being synchronise so well that the listener starts giving respect even as we are immersed in the nectar of your renditions. God bless you with greater accomplishments, than the glorious past and present. Incidentally, your English language is very powerful and flawless. Ram Ram

You are very lucky. I am frantically searching for her music and got only some odd 50 songs. All of them are gems. Out of them only one Kamboji padam. Adi Yoga and you got chance to hear Evari Mata as much as you want :)
