Hi Todd Thank you, you mentioned about leaving. As a beginner your knowledge will not be too great at knowing what is restrictive or not. As a general rule new students are overly cautious which leads to collecting lots of useless information. If you collect a point and five other pieces of information that go with it you will effectively learn 5 less points that day. The best way to learn the detail is when you practise Point to Point. Best Wishes Dean

Sorry if this has already been answered. I’ve done the 4 blue books and have now started pointing. However, at what point should I be putting in for map test/appearances? Should I be completing all the points first or is there a recommended number of points to have under your belt to go up with?
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig after around 600 points you are in a position to apply for the Written test. Whilst waiting you should try to reach 1500 points. You want to have around 1500 points for the first appearance. There are around 3000 points relevant to 56 stage. and you should try to point at least 100 a week and hopefully nearer 250 if you can.

So at what point of point spotting would the student be ready for map test,how many points should you know to take map test?
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 3 жыл бұрын
TFL were recommending to people who had not completed their runs but had used their 2 years to apply for the written test, which would then give a natural extension if the candidate failed. What they found was however is that students who had only completed 2 books of the 4 were passing the written test. Your objective is to get on to appearances as early as possible whether you feel ready or not. Completing the 4 bluebooks and having done between 600 to 1500 points is considered fine for the written test. No special study at is required for the first mock test after 80 runs. Best Wishes Dean

Points that were asked over certain peroid of time-does this statistic apply to appearances only or does it include map test as well?I'm trying to work out which points would be the most relevant to map test.
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tomas The written test uses older points, as they are not updated regularly; you are always relying on some luck with this exam. But saying that it really does not require a great deal of preparation as you only need 60% to pass and most people achieve this without any specific study. The best way to prepare is to use the WizPoints App Blue button TFL EXAM PART 1 I should make a video explaining all of this and will do so as soon as possible. What is more important is to focus beyond the written test. Building point to point skills and continuously building a points repertoire

@@WizAnn320 Hello, Dean! 👋 I've encountered differences between the blue book runs I downloaded on my Kindle and those on the Wizann app. This has left me feeling uncertain about which source to use for my revision. Which one would you recommend as the more effective option? 🙏
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 Жыл бұрын
I can’t imagine where you got runs from to go on a kindle. I can only say this , this wizann app runs are absolutely up to date. There is no reputable provider of runs based on Kindle. I suspect this may be a student selling runs on Amazon or Facebook.

I do get the point not taking notes. But what about the points we know in advance that's being asked for specific turnarounds only? For example Seven Sisters Station. Do we take notes straight away and driving the necessary routes to check it or we just make note for example "turnaround necessary"? How do we revise them. This is my biggest failure on exams. I call points and have not been able to leave it or set it down correct way.
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 3 жыл бұрын
Learning to leave and set points is all done by the volume of point to point practice that we do. Seven Sisters Station does not need a turnaround so if you took notes of a turnaround you wasted that energy on a point that did not need it. I really think your main problem is going to be the lack of point to point you do due to the long hours you work.

@@WizAnn320 It's being asked to sdol or lol. What's the main difference between wizann radius app and Wizann points app? I have the points app. Do I need radius app for pointing or points app just enough to create bike list when I'm already on appearance's?
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 3 жыл бұрын
@@petardoh If a point is asked to leave on left or set on left when it does not require it there is no way to predict that. You can only find that out from point to point and that is the best and approriate time to reserach and learn that information now that you know its being required. So it returns to the fact that this information is learnt when you practise enough point to point. You can not collect this information for all points as it is just not necessary. WizRadius is for beginners to build a repertoire of points. If you are already on appearances you should be using the WizPoints App.

Hi Dean. I am collecting points now . Do I also need at the same to learn how to arrive or leave that from the blue book run . I mean connecting roads or street names . And also plz advise me if I also memorise link and reverse runs do I still need missing links ?
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 Жыл бұрын
Hi Mo, If you learn how to arrive and leave on every point there will be several drawbacks, 1) will you ever need it 2) Do you know if it really requires it? As a beginner your perception of what is required is not developed to any degree. 3) By collecting and i presume writing it down, are you going to remember it? 4) Is this the most important thing for you to learn right now or would you be better off concentrating on learning more points rather than the detail for fewer points ? 5) How do you know that you wouldn't have learnt or known this by your natural progress through the knowledge? So to answer your question Mo, NO you don't need to nor should you do that. The best way to learn detail is by working through point to point and practising and learning the questions as they arise. As a beginner you need to create the largest repertoire of points you can. Then build detail after.

Excellent video , wish I had watched it before I began pointing. I'm now 400 radius maps up....revising points is not something I have done which I know is now a big mistake. I have used a dictaphone whilst pointing in the hope of going back to yes writing notes up for the points. My question is what would be the most constructive step to take now? Start the maps again?, or revise from map 1 my dictaphone recordings without obviously writing them up? and introducing a hour a day revising, Whilst completing the remaining maps without a dictaphone and trusting the memory and revision process. Thank you for your time From a crappy student who is not giving up. My Blue book calling is 10/10
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasim It’s not a major problem but you may have quite a big drop out rate of remembered points. In terms of the Dictaphone if you did not do anything with those notes for a while then they are pretty much useless and you should just abandon that idea. It’s very important to understand that a Dictaphone is a tool to remember things for you. Which greatly diminishes your own effort to remember something. If you are doing the WizRadius app version then go back to map one and do the threefold revision now. Be very strict with the sticky list. If I feel any restriction on manifesting an answer I will always put it into the Sticky list so I can speed up the reflex answer for it. Also because you have been somewhere once already a second visit can most certainly help to bring on the memory stronger and quicker. Unlike the first visit you might be able to double the points you visit in a day. But once again make sure when you are home to do the quick fire question and answer revision. I would start by going through all the points from the 400 maps done so far and create a sticky list from it. If I completely do not remember a point even though I have visited it I would mark it as Don’t Know. I would look at the 7 day revision cycle and do that every relative day and also do the sticky list every single day. I hope this goes someway to answering your question please feel free to tell me if there is anything you did not quite understand or need further help with. Best Wishes Dean

Thanks for your informative reply. Just to make sure I understand, you recommend I work my way through the wizzan app maps I've already done 1-400 putting the points in their respect categories correct/sticky/don't know.....then work on the latter two until I know most of them. Then I can continue with the remaining maps. Question The difference between sticky and don't know? Thanks once ..wishing you +family a Merry Christmas
@WizAnn320
@WizAnn320 4 жыл бұрын
@@wassimakalay Hi Jasim Yes work your way through quite quickly and establish what you know. Then go on to the next maps. Sticky Points are points we have pointed and begun to learn but do not manage to say the answer correctly or quick enough. If we are told the answer we realise we know it. Sticky points need extra revision. Points we do not know are quite literally that. It is a point I have not seen or begun to learn
