Honestly, that little 4 note chromatic run at the end of your favorite lick, is my favorite lick of his. That little run is a kind of "closing statement" on a number of licks in the song, and eluded me until I saw this video, so thank you! Also, the Chuck Berry lick, that he must repeat 100 times in this song, never gets old when Jimi plays it.

Well played, Steve, well played and precisely instructed. Yet, especially "Red House" lives from the "opposite" tones such as an open e-string or a low f# - this you cannot achieve when playing in a. So, for the intro playing in "a" might be fine - but the rest looses a bit in the transpose.Still absolutely great teaching. Txs for that!

Как говорил Хендрикс " Блюз просто сыграть, но сложно почувствовать " Без обид, я думаю что это как раз тот случай.

don't be too nice ....you are playing it very well, we should try to copy it like it sounds..... I think its a great job and I can never find this Hendrix version, every other beginning sucks, I hate the down notes in a lot of live versions

To paraphrased Charlie Parker. “Practice learn your scales etc, then forget all that s*it and just play. Helps to know how jimi played as a jumping off point

@@Guitarzoom Thanks. I will probably take up a subscription in the near future. The prices are totally reasonable but what happens is $5 here, $15 there and so on and I nickel and dime myself to dearth of funds. Some of my subscriptions helpful at the time are past their time so after I reorganize I'll try GuitarZoom.

@@Guitarzoom One of the reasons my favorite genre is blues is the bending of notes. Of course we are all dealing with the same 5, 7, perhaps 12 unbended notes so it IS all about phrasing, timing (if that's different). In my case as I said about a jumping off point via Hendrix is learning some of his phrasing. I was never much for (or good at) memorizing, regurgitation. Hearing a backing track for the 1st time (or 100th), listening to the groove and improvising is my ultimate. Sadly the better I get the worse I realize I play but I still have hope.

@@Guitarzoom You inspired me to look it up. Here it is: “First you learn the instrument, then you learn the music, then you forget all that s**t and just play.” ― Charlie Parker

Just wanted to respond to one small thing... "Sadly the better I get the worse I realize I play but I still have hope." Don't be sad about that, Catman! What that means is, you're learning more about how the guitar works, and how to use it to create music. Now that you have some experience playing, you're seeing things you can improve on that you didn't know anything about before. Which means, you're making progress as a guitarist. So don't be sad! :-) Thanks for responding, and no matter what, keep playing! - Mike from GuitarZoom

Jimi Hendrix winged it all the time doubt he was thinking about what key 🗝️ he was in like Neil Young said there was no noticible chords or technique to Jimi's playing!!!!!
