LEARNING THROUGH PLAY! 25 MONTESSORI ACTIVITY IDEAS for Toddlers 12-13 Months Old | MONTESSORI AT HOME | Maria and Montessori
Our babies have entered toddlerhood and they've hit the ground running (literally)! So what can we do to keep our little toddlers engaged, curious, learning, and playing independently? What materials and activities can we share with them to make sure they're still developing properly at a time when all they want to do is GO GO GO? I've got 25 Montessori activity ideas that will feed your child's natural desire to play and move, while also helping them continue to develop those important language skills, math skills, motor skills, balancing skills and more!
Discover some of the Montessori materials and Montessori activities that have been a staple for us in the 12-13 month period! Not looking to buy more toys? No problem! Some of these activities can be created with items around your house or nothing at all! Stick around to find out how! Remember, Montessori does not have to be expensive!
As I've mentioned in similar videos, remember that your child's journey will be different from ours. These activities may be just right or too easy or too hard for them at this age range. The beauty of Montessori is following the child, and presenting the material when they're ready! Materials we used in the 11-12 age range are still going to be useful here, and we will continue to work on some of these activities beyond the 13 month age mark as well!
If you're hungry for more Montessori activity ideas for your little toddler, check out these recent videos I have on practical life ideas, the functional kitchen, and DIY Montessori materials!

Great video again, she’s growing so much! The wallet one is definitely a favorite in our playroom (and woohoo an ad played beforehand, KZbin likes your video 😉)

She's growing insanely quick, I can't catch up!!! She definitely prefers mom's real wallet, with all the old receipts to rip apart too 🙃. Also, no idea what an ad would signify really since I'm not monetized still...KZbin is really doing whatever they want these days 🤷‍♀️

Wow this baby is a mini Einstein, amazing 👏💕 Its worth saying if any mama's are watching this and your child can't do these things, please don't worry, this child is very advanced for her age. Dont let this make you feel bad, all children develop at different ages 😊

Yes, as I have listed in the description box, every child's development journey is different and that is the beauty of implementing Montessori at home-it allows each child to develop at their own unique pace. This isn't a developmental milestone checklist-just ideas of activities that children at this age could enjoy. With that said, her development is actually on par with her peers and the general progression of Montessori materials for this age, so these aren't a far reach for most typically developing children, depending on their interests 😊. She had simply been presented with the opportunity to explore concepts that scaffold these skills throughout her first year of life.

Thanks so much for your informative video, super helpful! Stella is super duper advanced, this makes me feel my LO is too behind 😂😂😂
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori Жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh 😅 I'm glad it's helpful but definitely don't feel like your LO is behind! Everyone develops at such a different pace based on their interests, environment, etc! Since it was during the height of the pandemic, we had nothing to do but stay home and work on these activities! Our progress is surely slower now that we have a chance to explore other ways of developing -parks, museums, etc. And her interests have shifted as well. Take this as a lost of what is possible and see what your LO is interested in 🥰

I don't understand my 15months baby has some sort of issue with stackings. She will never stack cups/ rings ., infact she cannot bear to see when they r stacked. She will simply remove n throw all of them. Is there any specific meaning to this?
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori Жыл бұрын
They really enjoy seeing how things move through the air, how they fall, and most importantly, how you put them back up at this age! Some kids are interested in stacking it back up again earlier than others, but it seems she's more interested in how things move through space right now instead!

My son is 14 months and he still just tries to put everything in his mouth, so its hard to introduce new things.
@MariaandMontessori
@MariaandMontessori Жыл бұрын
As long as it is something that is safe to mouth, you can introduce some of the newer activities. But we also worked quite a bit on redirecting at that point-if she was bringing the broom up to her mouth, I'd gently guide her hands back and show how to imitate the sweeping motion. If she continued, I replaced it with something she CAN mouth. So she slowly started to understand which items can be mouthed & which can't
