I dont struggle with creating ocs, i have many ocs, but it's hard writing a story/world for them to live in lol
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
Omg for sure! One weird thing I found myself doing: I basically wrote the story premise I wanted to do and then kinda randomly put my OCs with no stories into specific roles 😭😭 I can't describe it but I have a backlog of OCs that I just throw into roles like actors for a movie. Next thing I know, they fit in perfectly as if they've always been there 🤣
@gloomyscribbles2 ай бұрын
@Rosemadi.artist lollll that's so funny because whenever I actually come up with a good storyline I usually yeet my main oc into the protagonist role and call it an AU. It's pretty fun because this particular oc was heavily based off of 15 year old me and each AU I write is like a peek into who I was at that point in time. The oldest stories I've written with this oc seem like a completely different person from how she is (and how I am) currently.
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
Oh yeah! AUs are totally a thing, and with AUs there's no real reason to switch up the main character haha okay now I get it! Honestly I want to make an AU but I have so many project ideas I need to work on 😭 anyways how many AUs/stories do you have? And also is your AU main OC like a self insert, or are they completely like you but just have a different name? Does that question make sense or is that convoluted? Lol
@gloomyscribbles2 ай бұрын
@Rosemadi.artist lol, I'd say probably like 7 or 8? I've done genres like sci fi, zombie apocalypse, fantasy, and steam punk, but I also have AUs based on aesthetics from Pinterest like dark academia, and I even made a fictional town in the southwestern US because I was really into the aesthetics of Oasis Springs from the sims 4. Also, with my main oc, she started out with my personality and a lot of aspects of my own past dialed up to 11, but I've since changed her backstory and some of her traits to whatever fits the story I'm trying to tell best. So in a way she's a self insert but she's also not (if that makes any sense? sorry for the super long response)
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
@gloomyscribbles no this is good, I'm always curious what type of AUs people create, I can only think of one and it's basically if one of my characters was evil instead of good lmao. But I like the idea of how you suggested with the settings changing themselves and not necessarily always just the character!

Hello, I really enjoy your videos!! I've been really into story creation recently and your content really inspires me! I personally love creating characters based off songs I like :D For names, I usually pick a character trait either from their personality or appearance and search up "Unique names that mean ___" Combining names together I find is also a cool way to create more unique names! (For example, I couldn't decide on "Forrest" or "Tori" so I combined them and named my oc "Fori")

Omg thanks so much for watching, I'm glad these videos inspire cause I swear comments like these inspire me as well haha!! The idea of characters being based off songs sounds like a pretty cool idea since music can tell an arrangement of emotions while trying to figure out thecharacterization! I keep forgetting to mention things in my videos but I also used ABBA songs to help me find the mood for the characters! Anyways I love the name Fori, it's so catchy while also having a pretty cool meaning!!

Omg new RoseMadi story LETS GOO‼️‼️‼️ I could see the story premise being a fun sitcom. I love Elijah already he gives baby girl. Watercolor web novel sounds SO COOL??? I’d be so interested in seeing it. I just started a new story because I wanted to do a smaller onceshot to take a break from other othe bprojects. I’ve been tinkering with a couple months ago and I did the oc artist classic of adding way too many things to it and I have so many ideas for it save me 😭😭 Also we have the like exact same koi watercolor set very cool, I got mine at fisher

And oooooooo please tell me more about your oneshot in discord, does this make you have three stories so far? That's pretty cool! And I love these watercolors omg, I used to have Dr. Martin's watercolors but those things were so saturated, I feel like kois are the perfect ones! I've had mine since highschool and used to carry it in my backpack daily haha

The start of a video has never hit me so hard in its accuracy- I am trying MY BEST to work with what 2017 Edyn gave me and I am GRASPING AT STRAWS- here’s to the endless redesign spiral👍
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
Omg im glad I'm not the only one experiencing this haha, the characters change and evolve so much, they might as well be brand new people 😭😭😭 and then some never change but you draw them better so they do change, it's so hard to explain XDD
@ccherry.berryy2 ай бұрын
3:39 FUCKING SAME OMG- and I have the added step of explaining how I created the ocs in the first place- Which is another rabbit hole on top of the current lore- like it’s truly unsummarizable. Elevator pitch? Never heard of her
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
It's like the hardest thing to do! I feel like I got everything down, the characters, the title, the plot, the lore but like when I try to summarize it without spoilers, it sounds super generic and inaccurate!!! Like why is it so hard😭😭😭😭

You can try using textures and digital brushes to help with the animations..though I assume getting close enough colors get easier the more you do it. Just look at water color children's books, they do it.

That's true! They're able to do it so I can do the same! With a lot more practice I'm sure it can be possible, thanks thanks!! 💕

2:10 I went down a Pinterest rabbit hole trying to get ideas for my ocs cuz I feel like a redesign is inevitable considering how much I’ve changed the story (the change being I gave them one)
@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
Yeah i understand omg cause literally when a character reflects a particular story beat or act a certain way, it's like omg their design now needs to change to look like that!
@evelyneelric58738 күн бұрын
I like using dnd to make OCs when I can;t get them into a story. I'll make the character, get an idea of them and then make another copy of them but divorced from dnd leaving the first version as a backburner character for an actual dnd game. Messing with the Sims CAS can also help. But I also just love making characters, so, yeah. Edit: Also, have you tried watercolour brush pens? I find they're good for consistency and details, or at least touch ups, but it's different for everyone. If you're still aiming for watercolour designs I recommend giving it a trial run.
@Rosemadi.artistКүн бұрын
hmmmm I used to use watercolor pens like religiously! Mostly because it was convenient to have when you wanted to paint on the go. But I've switched back to the regular brushes subconsciously. I might just go back to the pens lmao thanks! Also, I never thought to use CAS, but that's how I managed to make MySims OCs!

I feel like I have a lot the same problems, but my current problem l am focusing on is if my character designs read as interesting or lame; ugh so unsure.
@Rosemadi.artistАй бұрын
Oof yeah that can be pretty tricky! But what gives me solace is the fact that there's a bunch of characters with basic designs, like Finn from adventure time or Eugene from Hey Arnold, but at the end of the day, what carries them is their personality 😭😭 so regardless of design, I think their characterization and writing should at least do some of the heavy lifting!

@Rosemadi.artist2 ай бұрын
Thats true that there are no rules when it comes to creativity, but once you learn the basics of writing and the elements of art/principles of design it's like big oof, "I can see everything I'm doing wrong and now I gotta think harder and practice more" you know what I mean? While as a kid I was just doing whatever just for fun 😭😭 but that's good to hear that you made OCs back then and now! I deadass only made OCS back then and then had artists guilt about anything I made 😭😭😭 anyways im rambling, I'm glad you liked the video!!!💕💕
