Nice! Yeah I started with one of those old ones from the 90s too. Things have come a long way! I think the s9 is pretty good... the Ultra's size makes it really something different for art. It feels like it's possible to really see the image at a nice size. I have the new M4 iPad too and I will do some comparison videos soon. But I was really surprised how good the android experience was for using Clip Studio (I haven't had a chance to use other android art apps...) I was pretty happy using it to make art. The Apple stuff does seem to be a bit snappier though. And there is more app support still.

About the S9 Ultra and the S pen, there is a pretty noticeable input lag shown in this video. A lot of times the line seems to struggle to follow the S pen. Now, I understand that this can be produced by the difference of refresh ratio between the camera and tab screen. Is this the case, or the overall feeling in reality is just like the video? Ty!
@xanderyusuf74948 ай бұрын
I think he explained why in the beginning, said it lagged when plugged, I've experienced that with my Samsung phone it's a charger by charger bases, I used to tab s7+ and s7fe and the latency is not noticeable, changing the cable of charger should fix that
@mraizen41398 ай бұрын
@@xanderyusuf7494 I see. Ty, my friend!

@mraizen4139 no problem man, also the tab has really low latency but not all apps take advantage of this well, the Samsung owned app do and clip studio does very well
@TheDrawingCodex8 ай бұрын
Yeah When not filming the S9 Ultra is really fast. The pen seems very responsive with minimal lag. As I mentioned in the beginning when I plug it into my computer via USB to HDMI cable to capture a mirror of the screen for use in obs (so I can get the shots where you see the actual in app view) It lags the whole system for some reason. So it's pretty unusable like this... I am trying to track down why, but I tried all the obvious stuff and haven't had time to go deeper.

I like the way you build the characters, it's really more understandable. afterwards I wonder how you manage to put two or three characters in a fight scene. I tried to do it but sometimes I have the impression that my design lacks movement, I don't know if I can find the right word to explain it. a video on this would be very useful for me. thank you very much for sharing🔥🔥

I use to think character designers don't need to study anatomy so i did that and after struggling a lot I have started learning anatomy
@TheDrawingCodex8 ай бұрын
From my experience it's important to know anatomy so you can modify the proportions of your designs and get the right personality. But it's less critical to know how to draw the figure in different poses and from different perspectives. If you compare that to comics where artists often draw similar characters... But need to draw them in a huge range of poses and from all sorts of angles.

That is to say they're are different skills related to understanding figure drawing and anatomy, and different jobs will require different focuses

Just curious why or if its important that you colored the whole thing blue first and then colored over it with the hair and skin tone? I’ve seen artist always start coloring like this and I’m wondering if its necessary
@TheDrawingCodex8 ай бұрын
This initial blocking of the silhouette is there to define the base of the character. The goal is to create a layer that I can then Alpha lock. This allows me to never have to touch the silhouette again. When you lock the transparent pixels you can only paint on what's there already. I can also then clip layers above this to the first layer and they will use it as a mask. This is normally called a clipping mask. Let me know if that makes sense. It's basically so you don't have to keep carefully painting inside the lines. I also like to give a good base colour to work from. And seeing the character silhouette early on tells me if the shapes in the drawing are working well.

Whats the Samsung S9 Ultra in the title about?? Ive got the S22 Ultra and ive been using Sketchbook Pro but am trying to transition to PenUp or IbisPaint X but having some trouble figuring out whqt brushes to use and which alterations to the brushes would be best to do to get the best results so i can start to really put tome into learning anatomy cause of course, like other artist, have been avoiding the whole anatomy study because its hard finding someone to learn from that can use simplified strategies that make learning it less difficult and more focused on the fundamental aspects that dont go into overly explained detail, ive come across Proko but hes really detailed and I find him a bit hard to follow, ive recently come across Kaycem who has an anatomy bootcamp playlist bit havent started watching it yet caise ive been going through your videos trying to find out what you've got and if you cover all areas of anatomy thatll hell me follow that arent hard to follow, if you have a link or suggestion on which videos of yours would help me out id gladly take the time to go over them and learn what i can, thanks and hope you read my message and respond back, itd be appreciated 👍🏼 again thanks

Oh shit lol my bad I thought he was referring to the phone cause I have the S22 Ultra with the stylus pen and us either for sketching, I kinda wish there were better software apps for the phones but I guess there's a difference in how they're created/coded/made that doesn't permit its use on certain devices, I need to get a drawing tablet but not sure which one is most affordable without sacrificing power or storage space, so far my phones got me use to digital sketching a bit but know its not the same as having a 14" tablet with a stylus and photoshop/procreate which I've noticed everyone uses, id also like to try procreate dream os whatever its called to try my hand at animating once I get to doing more anatomy study and have a better understanding and ability to manipulate the human body, that's what I've always avoided but know I have to hit it head on and just learn as much as I can so I've started looking for reference and have been preparing to start watching videos from Kaycem and other YT artist I've started watching over the years, finger's 🤞🏽thanks for the clarification of the S9 being a tablet and not a phone as I initially presumed lol HaHa!!

Yeah... As I mention though, it's due to the screen being mirrored via USB-HDMI so I can capture the output. Normally it is very smooth... But this is a feature they advertise... so it's terrible that it lags like this. The iPad does not lag when mirroring via HDMI.

@@TheDrawingCodex no need to connect all that stuff. The S9 Ultra allready have video and screen recording. What i do is to record the screen in the tab (obviously) and record the audio with my cellphone. At the end, i send the recorded audio to the adobe audio enhancer web (is free). It transform any audio into a studio quality podcast and at the end i just edit the video with Luma Fusion and wala!!.
