Learning to Flat water Paddle up on to the foil. VLOG #44 Week 4 update.

Week 4 of my second attempt at flat water paddle up onto the foil. Injured my back through over doing it and trying to power through so feeling a little stagnant with my progress. I had a breakthrough at the beginning of the week in getting the feeling of really unweighting the board with the paddle stroke and pushed it too hard.
Im fortunate to own a Foil assist from www.hybridfoils.com which I bought last year and Ive fitted it to my setup to allow me to keep working hard on the pump and getting a feel for this enormous foil under my feet.
Not a cheat, more a training aid.

Lee, I'm on the same journey as you. Been using my foil assist to get up. Some days I manage longish runs pumping. My prop is off the water and skims the surface, propelling me if I lose speed, but as soon as I take my finger fully off the throttle, I tend to get off the foil. Need to work on the pump technique.

It’s one of the hardest skills I’ve had to learn. So very subtle and you get seconds to practice any pumping. The foil assist really helps and gives you a nice reward for the paddle practice.
