Your story is almost a cut and paste of mine and many of the commenter's. 4 years, 4 months, and 23 days sobriety for me. This video is encouraging to me as I prepare to solo slow travel as a widower. Staying sober got me through loosing my wife of 27 years almost 3 years ago. It didn't get me through loosing my son almost 6 years ago.

Great Video Brent. I'm 5 Months and 4 days Sober. Yes I enjoyed it and I was that weekend warrior but I just thought it was part of life. Finally I got fed up with it. The Anxiety, Restless Nights, High Blood pressure and brain fog had run its course . I was tired of it Brent. So I stopped cold turkey. And the truth is , I've never felt better. Sleep amazing, self confidence skyrocketing, being engaged in good conversations. No Hangovers. Yes I was a happy drunk too Now I'm just happy and living my best life. 💪🏽Take care Brent and thanks for the videos

Brent for the fighting men you are very relatable. I'm from Michigan and i worked long hours in the heavy equipment and concrete materials reallocation industry. I'm also a certified welder. But it was a rough road to get there because i had been a 13 year old drunk and drank like that until the birth of my first born child (age 21). But it was men like you that sat down with me and taught me what i needed to learn to support my goals. And trust me, most of those guys were straight up drunks after work, but they were good men! Best of wishes on your new journey ✌🏾

Hi Brent. I am sorry to hear you are an alcoholic. My mother was a registered nurse who worked in many hospitals and with many alcoholics, drug addicts and people living on the street. Some people my mother worked with that I got to know committed suicide which was so horrible. I’ve seen people destroy their lives. I hardly drank much my whole life, but as a result of my experiences with alcoholics, I have never even had a drink socially for decades and have no desire to drink alcohol at all. People who haven’t experienced what I have, often never understand. Wow, it is so wonderful you kicked the habit and finally quit! Thanks for sharing your story. Keep strong. You can do it!

Jail forced me into sobriety, but God has helped me keep it. Interestingly, I was always anti-drug, until I found cocaine enabled me to drink a lot more, and that was when cocaine became a partner to my alcohol in the same way alcohol was a partner to me. I wish you nothing but the best, my friend, and a life of sobriety and happiness.

You know, I’ll bet a lot of ppl in recovery on vacation would be glad to pay u a few bucks to go out on guided day trips snorkeling, waterfall jumping, scooter touring, etc that stopped off for mango smoothies and healthful food instead of beer. 🥭 🍌

RESPECT, brother. I never crawled into a bottle. My addiction was nicotine. From the very first cigarette, I instinctively knew I was 'hooked'. I struggled with it almost my entire adult life. But (as you know), once you've steeled yourself that YOU WILL QUIT, it can happen. Just like we have escaped from the rat race and came here, we have both finally broken the chains of addiction.

👍💪 For diet just keep it simple. All self cooked/self prepared. Eggs, meat, coconut oil, fruit, local real honey, coffee if you want. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. As long as you only eat those things and nothing else you cannot overeat and cannot gain weight. You self-regulate. Decent coffee recipe if you have a blender: 1tbsp coconut oil, coffee, local raw honey - blend it until it’s frothy. Basic exercise 3-4x a week, especially squats will get you on the fast track.

You're not alone. I quit drinking every morning for 22 years. I hated being a drunk and so did everyone around me. I was able to finally quit 31 years ago. My sobriety is the best part and most important part of my life. My advice to everyone is accept life as it is. A "beer or two" won't make anything better " and it never ends there.
@thomcarr7021
@thomcarr7021 2 ай бұрын
And one more thing. Anyone struggling with this addiction can not be a nice guy about it. Stop thinking of yourself as just a partier or a guy who likes to be with "friends" for a few beers and a "good time". Start referring to yourself as a drunk because that's what you are. And when you think of going out for a "good time" , think of staggering around your car with some kid on a bike under it all mangled and screaming.

Brent, thanks for opening up about your old addictions. As a veteran I can relate to your story. I’m from Miami, FL and drinking culture and partying was a strong influence on me. Once I got into the service, the drinking culture was even stronger. For years I was an alcoholic. It took me admitting it and the impact it had on me and my family. Thankfully I stopped drinking. Saving a lot of $ on not drinking. I’ve never felt better.

Congrats on your sobriety. My addiction was food. I've been on carnivore for almost 6 years. I lost 80KG and counting. Carnivore repairs the body and mind. Just don't eat any carbs on it, and it will work. I lose more weight eating meat than fasting. I moved to the PH last sunday.
