@Daphoid Жыл бұрын
I think a lot of that is time lines / dead lines - and also the instant gratification of social media music hacks and such. As someone who doesn't sell or release music I create - most of my gear actually doesn't have presets so I build things from scratch by necessity and its awesome. But I 100% understand why people love presets / samples. It's music as both a passion and a job. If I had to make a song by 5PM tomorrow or a client would be angry - it's totally different :)

Not only does this make great and engaging audio, but it also sounds like something that would be great for up and coming youtubers who might not be interested in searching for all the copyright free audio or couldn’t afford to pay for background music. Especially before the bass line on the final day, I think what you put together there sounded like some really great b-roll-esque music type of thing. Something really pleasant to perhaps go behind nature footage.

A little time saver for you: Provided you haven't opened Ableton as administrator, you can directly move samples in AND out from Ableton without having to go into folders or anything. For example with Splice, you can move a sample straight from splice, into your arrangement. With the cirquit, you can probably move samples straight from the arrangement or the browser into the sample thingy you used.

As a self tought musician, I want to address the point made at 5:25. There is not a high barrier to entry for music anymore. In fact, I believe it’s the lowest it’s ever been. Every learning resource you could possibly need is available for free on youtube alone. My experience is only in the topic of practical, applicable skills in performance and production(guitar, theory, composition, etc) and not intentionally complex methods and skills related to sheet music and that branch of classical education. Many instruments are manufactured at a higher quality than ever and at the lowest market value ever. Investing marginal amounts of time, money and similar resources is very beneficial, of course, but you can easily get by with much less than ever before

As a music teacher, I love using technology to teach music. As you mention, you don’t need too much knowledge on theory or even reading music notation. It’s a great way to introduce music to elementary students in which they can produce music that is relevant to today society. At the same time it encourages them to continue music at the middle school level.

Hey Mike! Really cool video and I'm glad you're playing music, but you may want to learn some music theory while you're doing this so you know more about the keys and specifically major and minor keys. The last piece you played has the chords in a minor key but your melody over the top sounds to me like it's in a major key, which is kinda jarring. If you did it on purpose, cool; but if not, music theory is really fun and you can probably get an ABRSM theory book pretty easily. Congrats on making nice beats though!
