This is excellent advice for every level of practice. I find that it is easier to understand if you choose a song from childhood, baked into your memory so deeply that any changes to pace or volume fight with your memory of the tune. The changes stand out clearly and the practice clarifies the process.

Scott this is great stuff! Thank you for your recommendation for the Tony Dixon. I am loving it, and it is a lot easier to play the second octave than my previous one. I'll be practicing these dynamics.
