It was heartwarming to see how well April took to pulling the wagon. She's a fine horse. Not to overlook your skill as a trainer. Your mindset of building confidence at every step really pays off. Thanks for posting. signed, Ernie

We start new ones with someone leading and someone on the lines. The best mule we went from first harness to driving in 6 hours. You’ve got a good, light hand.

Reminds me of my childhood. We use to ride a two-wheel buggy and a wagon similar to yours! The neighbors’ Welsh Pony loved to pull anything and was good for kids to learn around.

Wow I had no idea of these things my family is from PA & there's tons of Amish with horses pulling wagons - I never knew all these things about that - they make it look easy - I would've never known that any horse can't just hook up & go - this is why I love your channel this is a great learning experience April is exceptional & beautiful too what a sweet girl she is

What a wonderful video, I would have loved a wagon like that when I was younger, I know the dogs love a good run but I’ll bet they’d like to be sitting up in that wagon with you 😂 .that was very educational, April is a lovely horse. ❤xx

A coat of paint and some padding and the buggy will be nice. April already is nice, she needs some grain after that, but I am sure you did give her a treat. Maybe you need to find a Rudolf for the wagon at this time of year!

You need a swingle tree or if you get much weight on that way again it's going to rub your horse in her shoulders check out what swingle tree is for
@homesteadhorsemanship Жыл бұрын
Thank you I didn’t think of that

I hope you installed a single tree on that wagon. Thats a lot of weight to be pulling without one.
@agranetmedia2667 Жыл бұрын
You should have a swingle tree on your wagon, for the ends of the tugs. A solid tug-hitch like yours is hard on the horse's shoulders, causing the breast band to rub on her shoulders as pulls, causing friction.
@blkequus Жыл бұрын
you are correct this type of hitch is usually used with a racing harness and a very, very light vehicle. The horse pulls from the saddle so there's no rubbing on the chest area. But don't use this set up without a single tree.

I just looked at the age of this video and I think you subsequently did sell April for the farm payment. Great video and nice job rigging up the little wagon. I'm assuming that Oliver will be too wide to fit the wagon as it is?
