When I started skating, I thought I was regular but found out I’m actually goofy. It turned out to be a plus because starting on my less dominant stance helped me get the hang of both stances and made switching between them easier

Nice! That’s honestly such a great skill to have 🤙🏼

Thank you for showing the raw side of learning new things on your board! Too often beginners like myself come across experienced riders on their board and get overwhelmed when we don't pick up the skill fast enough to look as cool or effortless as the experienced riders do, but we forget that even the most experienced riders started off just like us, the struggling beginners. Your transparency of your learning journey is a massive encouragement and assurance that I'm on the right track, and a reminder that it takes time to learn a new skill, here I was scratching my head off thinking why can't I do a kick turn yet when I'm barely 1 week into penny boarding!! 🫣 Tyler you're awesome, never stop making content please, I'm always so happy to watch your videos! ❤

Absolutely!! I’m glad you feel that way, and I appreciate you letting me know! I know it can be challenging at the beginning, and I’ve found it’s also so easy to compare to other people. The coolest thing is to focus in on your own progress and the little things you find yourself improving upon. Keep the fire going, and keep at it, Candy! 🤙🏼

It's crazy how making such a small change can make even the most experience skater feel like a beginner. I also ride goofy and I can barely stand on the board when trying to ride standard.

@@pennyboardtyler first i'd like to thx you for replying my comment. Well, recently I had an accident, which caused my 2 ligaments torn (knee & ankle). Getting back to my penny getting even harder, I barely applied tricks learned from your vids, such as bail & run on the flat ground... In stead I equipped with knee & elbow pads, hope my leg heal sooner. :D But I always support your vids and channel. Have a nice day!

Switch is always good for you. Rocco used to tell Mike Vallely to push switch for ten pushes just to get comfortable riding that way. Plus it helps when you have achilles tendinitis😢

oh no, I hope you didn't have achilles tendinitis!

Great video! You inspired me to pick up my board again after a 10 year hiatus, i’m a local to Mesa, AZ. What park were you at? it looks like a great spot to cruise around.

Just seeing this now! Thanks for your comment and for letting me know. Super cool to hear you’re getting back into boarding now! 🤙🏼 But honestly, I don’t recall what park. I used to live in Mesa, and I would typically go to parks within a 20-30 minute radius (driving wise). This one was within that range

It's the opposite for me 💀 I always rides on regular foot and it was so embarrassing to learn goofy like a beginner upfront of a crowd
@pennyboardtyler12 күн бұрын
Yeah riding the opposite way is verrrrry weird/different!

I just need to learn how to go downhill and turn fluidly on slopes... With that, I'm 100% into pennyboarding...🤙🏻 🛹
