It could be you smth needs loosened on your board. The bolts that connect that trucks to the board will help you turn better. Could need some lubricant or maybe your trucks are rusted. Does the same problem occur on other peoples' boards or just yours? If it's just yours then try leaning with your body weight first and then tilting your feet to turn your board

i was so comfortable with mongol, now im training myself to be goofy. rotating the lead foot isnt easy because im used to facing the other way X_X

Oooh yeah it is different to switch it up! It’s a fun challenge though, and adding both to your repertoire will also help you learn how to ride switch later on too!

90 degree angle positioning is fine for turning, but the problem is 22 inch boards are too small for adults. Should be riding 27 minimum

Thanks for your comment. Generally, 90-degree positioning is an issue of overall balance and stability, not necessarily turning. I would agree 27-inch boards are easier for beginner riders as they provide more surface area, stability, and control. I’m an adult and ride pretty well on 22-inch boards though. Typically I’ve found if you have previous board experience/good body awareness, it is very much possible to ride and feel solid on a 22inch Penny as an adult

Whenever you’re cruising, carving, and turning, you want to ride feet parallel. If you’re pushing, you should have your front foot forward. The general notion is - you want to be comfortable adjusting your front foot so even if you push-push-push-push, you can come into your board and then effortlessly turn that front foot parallel

Just got some new 70mm wheels for my penny board. The new wheels have slightly helped in keeping speed for slightly longer and rolling through debris easier, though i have just one problem. The wheels are supposed to be 78a but they feel more like 83 or 85a. I'm very curious but how soft are 78a wheels compared to 83a wheels??

My problem is when I move my foot from front to aligned. Now suddenly I can't push to gain speed. It's like kicking with your other leg pointing at your center. It gets in the way and feels really weird.

Yup! You have to learn to move it back and forth. I mention getting familiar with adjusting your front foot briefly, but the basic premise is this: Front foot forward when pushing. When you’re done pushing, adjust front foot more parallel. Cruise. When you want to push again, the adjust your front foot back pointing forward. Push. Repeat

Yes, your foot should be straight when you push, and then you adjust it when you’re riding/cruising. Then you repeat

Great question! Firstly, that’s called riding “mongo,” and it’s pretty common to find I feel. This said, it is generally looked down upon in the traditional skateboard community. I personally don’t find any issue with it if that’s what works and feels best for you. I’m an advocate of you doing you, regardless of what others may think or say. If you still feel balanced and in control when you push and ride, and you enjoy it in general, then keep doing it. At the end of the day, #1) You’re not harming anyone, #2) You have fun doing something you enjoy. That’s what matters more than anything anybody else may say

In the trick skateboard community, there's a bias against it that's grown up in recent decades (it didn't used to be an issue), but those guys often have some weird, negative gatekeeping. If you feel safe and comfortable and are having fun, just do it. It's still helpful to learn to push the "regular" way, too, so then you can alternate legs to keep from getting as tired without having to switch your stance back and forth between regular and goofy.

woah! super underrated. when i first saw this, this looked super professional and was expecting it to have thousands of views. question: whenever i ride, my body literally just doesn't allow me to lean back to turn because i just feel like im gonna fall. i can lean foward and i can lean back whenever im not riding, and just on the board. is there anything i can do to overcome this?

Glad you dig it! Regarding your question, it's a little hard to fully understand what's going on because I cannot physically see you or your board. This said, you shouldn't really be leaning back on your board when you ride as too much weight in the back can lead you to accidentally performing a manual / losing the nose of the board up and off the ground. When you turn, it's more of redistributing your weight on your toes to turn in or your heels to turn back. If this is the main issue, I'd recommend checking out a previous video on "How to Turn."
