There is application for this device, but it is designed intentionally to be a low end instance in the Helix family. I think it's great for a practice situation at home or otherwise, but will stick with my HX stomp XL or HX effects for gigs.

Thank you for this! I'm enjoying both POD Expresses (Guitar and bass).

Have you tried running the guitar pod through the bass pod yet? I'm curious because of the compression and octaver in the bass one.
@isaacdust7 ай бұрын
@@ranger_a6953 Interesting idea. You could run either unit into either unit, depending on what instrument you're playing. The key would be to turn off the cab sims on whichever unit comes first in the signal chain, thereby turning that first unit into a multi-effects pedal to compliment the amp tones of the second unit. I'm doing this already, but using the Zoom MS-50g in front of the POD Express. Eventually, I'll experiment with your suggestion, just to check out how it sounds.
@ranger_a69537 ай бұрын
@@isaacdust Please do. I think it "should" work, but the results might be a bit weird. I'll keep checking in. The missing compression in the guitar pod would be nice to have.

@@ranger_a6953 I just tried it out. Ran the bass pod through the guitar pod, and then ran the guitar pod through the bass pod. Both combinations work (I turned off the bass amp sims in both cases), but I wasn't crazy about how any of it sounded. You can't really control the signal chain, as in you can't arrange the various effects in whatever order you prefer. You're stuck with however the pods are wired. I much prefer putting a Zoom MS-50g in front of the guitar Pod Express,(for compressions, drives, filters, etc.) and then putting a Zoom MS-70CDR after the Pod, for stereo modulations. Endless possibilities and it sounds killer, to my ears.

@@isaacdust Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Maybe I should look into an HX stomp or something. A lot more money though. Thanks for answering my question though, much appreciated.

Hopefully you are watching these comments. I just got my Express Bass today. My only complaint which seems like a firmware update possibility is that even though you have 21 presets, they are pretty hard to switch around to in a gig. Also, if you use the previous/next on a footswitch, I'm not seeing indication of what you are going from to. I assume that if you want to go from preset 1 to preset 20, you would have to count your switch clicks until you get to 20?
@U-mann7 ай бұрын
If I have the info correct it's as follows: There are 3 blocks each of 7 preset slots which total 21 slots. Different colour for each 3 blocks and it will cycle clockwise from left to right, moving on the next 7 slots, 8-14 with a different colour for those 7 slots etc. Colour blindness might make it a bit more challenging though. In a normal gigging situation you would have no need for 21 slots unless you do covers of songs that require vastly different parameters. External foot switch along with a volume/expression pedal would give you 3 foot switches, similar to HX stomp. I'm going to build a miniature fly rig with this as I'm not in the mood to lug around a shockmounted rack case. Preserve the back while having good tone. 👌😎

As a practice tool it would be great. But It kinda sucks that it blocks your device from independent volume control. And it’s not easily to mix the level inside the unit. And the music seems still way too loud from the source. Even lowering the db. The full amount. Have to almost dime the volume and boosts to even hear the bass.

I'd order one of these right now if it weren't for the fact that the enclosure is plastic 😔

I have the red one. That is totally not an issue. Does not looks bad in real life and for sure it is not fragile.

No simultaneous delay and mod is unfortunate, but for a pedal at this price mark, I can kind of understand.

I would actually be interested in an updated/upgraded version of this where 1) there's MIDI I/O, 2) parameters can be assignable to MIDI controllers for remote/automated variable modulation, 3) full range of parameters are available for edit over editor app and MIDI control, 4) continuous rotary encoders are used instead, 5) the BOSS PN-2 model either is added or replaces the flanger or phaser. A metal chassis would be nice too.

You're looking for a HX Stomp
@mluciani9451Ай бұрын
@@israelizalde If only they would give us an HX Stomp for bass! I've been down this road before with multi-effect pedals and I don't want to deal with all the guitar stuff. I know a lot of people are using it for bass but it's another case of taking a device that is 80% guitar and using the 20% that is applicable for bass. The POD Express Bass does not appease.

It doesn't power through USB! You probably have batteries installed. Used different cables, powered hub and 30 watt plug adapter. I would have gladly paid a little more for a metal enclosure. I'm skeptical about longevity.
