Dave, I just read your comment. Were you as disappointed as I am with this cold, brittle, raspy, fizzy, narrow sounding and no sweetness IR pedal. I'm sending it back after 2 weeks of trying to make it sound reasonable. Absolute fail. Would like to hear your thoughts on the PE, maybe I'm doing something wrong?
@davidparkerguitar24 күн бұрын
@@Neil-Aspinall Believe it or not, I really like it! The big caveat with me is that I mostly play bone clean jazzy stuff, so I'm going VERY light on it, mostly using the Princeton model, a scootch of plate reverb and even less digital delay. I rarely touch distortion or modulation effects on it. I'm not really adjusting the amp parameters very much. Having said that, I also like the second amp model (their Dumble, I suppose) for the tiniest bit of cut and hair. I'm using a Palir tele with Lollar special T pickups and a Creston tele with Lollar gold foils and going straight into a Bose S1. I don't know what to tell you- I'm guessing we may be playing different styles. Two more things: (1) I'm not trying to sound "like" any rig in particular, but just getting a good sound I like. (2) I have recorded direct from the pedal into a DAW and I have not gotten a sound I like very much. I've played it at venues from a farmer's market to church to a Chateau-style event/wedding space. I haven't had a problem yet! I am entirely open to the possibility I have tin ears, but it sounds as good to me as a full PodGo unit (if you don't like those, I doubt you would like this).

I own this and the IR-2. They both have amps and reverb, but that's all they have in common. Neither would substitute for either. I assume the comparisons are due to their price points rather than their few similarities. I will say that the POD is a better at-home all in one. It's also outstanding as an educational tool for those beginning to learn what effects do what. Good demo as always!! Thanks!

I've been playing mine and putting in tones for just over a week now. It's on my pedal board right now with only a wah, tuner, compressor, and looper around it. It's handling all the effects and pretty much covers any basic setup I can do, from jangle pop to southern rock to creedy-dad metal to worship. I am not sure I'd record with it, but to take to a gig and be super minimalist with my pedal board, sure!

Sounds pretty good! I’ve been using a UA Dream 65 at the end of my board for fly dates, and this is pretty interesting at this price point just for that purpose for me (ie using just the the clean fender amp sim and spring reverb and my other pedal for drives/delays etc). Not exactly it’s intended use, but the amp sounds are good enough on their own, and then I’d have a headphone practice setup and a full backup rig already sitting on my board at all times.

I watch most of the videos because of Johnathon as he is just straight up to the point but keeps it clean and respectful and his playing is badass with good taste but keeps it real and for a guitarist that’s much like him I enjoy the videos more. I was on the fence with this from many bad experiences with past Line 6 but after this video I am actually going to place an order for one now! Keep rocking Johnathon 🤘🎸🤘thanks for more money down the pipe to hear about later btw👍 Be running it with my Custom Tele & Fender 65 deluxe reverb amp & my Supro Amulet 🤘

I’ve been a line 6 fan since I was a young with my spider amps. A large chuck of the market are gonna be younger guys just jamming out in their rooms. Line 6 has always tailored to that market. A full stack just isn’t practical for someone living in a dorm room or a barracks. They perfected the art of making big sounds in small spaces.

I'm the wrong person to comment on stuff like this as haven't used them much, with the exception of a Roland Cube 80GX amp that I use sometimes (and practice with most of the time) which has I think 10 overdrive mods built into the amp and I think they sound pretty good. When I do need some crunch I use the "Tweed" mod which I believe is designed from the Fender Bassman with 4 tens. My preference is to take an amp like that and turn it way up as rather than doing what I used to do, using one of early Mesa Combo's. I like a clean "dirt" sound that isn't compressed if that makes sense. I don't like the sound of distortion when it starts breaking up as it hard to keep the overtones from freaking out in a negative way sound wise and players that use pedals to give the sound more clarity end up with a compressed sound that doesn't cut through like I would want if I still played music that required that. I enjoyed the video and once again Casino does a great job whether it is telling jokes or demonstrating equipment. Nice job.

Great playing and note selections really good! Thinking of picking one of these up as a "cheap" alternative to run in the effects loop only and disabling amp and cab to use modulation through my synergy head. Just wondering how that'll work

When I thrash on mine (like Hetfield Metallica speed) even when all the effects are off I get a digital artifact that creates an extra "gallop" in my picking that makes it sound like I'm playing SUPER fast. It seems to fix itself after a while but it's really annoying, though. Hopefully it can get fixed with a firmware update down the road but who knows. Happens both on batteries and plugged in with a 500mA 9v power supply.

The ToneX One is possibly a better option for the same price. Now that they did the update and have effects on them. Tone X One’s nowhere near as easy to use tho, that’s for sure. And this Line 6 also has a pretty cool app with it that’s pretty simple. Where’s as Tone X app is a PITA imo. But the ToneX One definitely sounds better and does a lot more than this. Line 6 does usually know what they’re doing tho. I’m going to order one and put it up against the Tone X One and the BOSS ME-90. I’m pretty sure the ME-90 will destroy the Line 6 but it’s also a lot less expensive. I think best absolute bang for buck right now is the ME-90 for sure. But I’m gonna grab one of these tomorrow and if it’s even just average good, I’ll keep it.

Good point 👍🏻 But if You spend the time to create presets for all songs of your setlist, You could keep it in preset mode and just toggle the presets with the built-in footswitches. Even in preset mode the 2 external footswitches work (which I‘ve assigned to boost and modulation effects). So it could bring You trough a whole gig IMHO 😊

I have this 'pedal' and I can say without a doubt that it is not very good at all. Some amp settings are so bright you have to turn the treble/presence right down? None of the amp/cabs have any 'body'. The gain and OD's are either on or off basically and most are shooshy. The sound on most selections is cold, brittle, raspy, fizzy, narrow sounding and not sweet? I wanted this for straight to DAW recording, it may be OK through an amp but I will never know as that was never to be it's purpose. It will be returned.
