This is exactly the video I needed to see. Until recently, I’ve never used any kind of boosts or distortion pedals in my signal chain. For my old tube amps, I run them through a Bad Cat attenuator that has an effects loop, and use my guitar’s volume knob to control to clean things up. It’s simple and sounds consistently great. Last month I bought a Catalyst 60, and have amassed a nice collection of boost and distortion pedals. I put them all together on a homemade pedal board. This past week I added a Big Muff Rams Head to the pile, then started experimenting with getting them all to work in their unique way. Generally speaking, all of the pedals (with the exception of the Big Muff) work well with this amp with not much effort. The Big Muff has taken up the most time in finding a preset that it works well with. As you know, this kind of tone chasing can become tedious at times. I’ve tried these pedals with a wide range of presets that I’ve created. After watching your approach, using just a few cleanish presets, I realize that I’m making the whole exercise way more complicated than it needs to be. No wonder I need a nap after all the fiddling with knobs! The sounds you came up with are superb, as is your playing. I took screen shots of your three presets, and will give a fresh listen tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll get to spend more time playing than futzing with pedals. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together. It made my evening! Cheers!

Honestly reconsidering this after a few vids HOWEVER I looked at one in the local shop recently and was not impressed by the build/cabinet...seemed like really cheap/light pressboard. I snobbed it off at that point without even listening to it. I have a Flextone III from mid-2000's and that thing is a TANK...but it's way too heavy and struggles with pedals in front of it. ALso the lack of a speaker out (not that I ever used the one on my FTIII ) is kind of a bummer, seems like it would have been one more jack on the back for a speaker out wouldn't have increased the price point that much.

You're bummed it doesn't have a feature that you don't even use? It does have XLR out for going to FOH. IMO that is way more useful. I wouldn't expect a fancy cab at this price point...
