How profoundly lyrics affect us is made wonderfully clear in this episode. Appreciate your take Monica, on Jeevan se lambe hain bandhu...as for this quizzical line - Bhor ke manzil wale utth kar, bhor se pehle chalte - my not-so-serious interpretation would be; The early bird gets the worm, similar to your view of "rachna ko agar thukraoge!" Sharvari, loved your thoughts on Sansar se bhage phirte ho and Baharein humko dhoondhegi...you expressed deep philosophy in simple words...bahut khoob 👏 Lata ka yeh soulful gana bahut bhavuk kar deta hai, proving that "Sadness is a constant.'" An exceptional program ladies. Kudos and Bravo!!👍👏

Undoubtedly, you both are AMAZING, Monica & Sharbari!!! You have beautifully defined the essence of life in the song, "वहाँ कौन है तेरा मुसाफिर, जाएगा कहाँ, दम ले ले घड़ी भर, ये छैयाँ पाएगा कहाँ..." It was so interesting that I started thinking deeply about life after listening to your podcast. "सुन मेरे बंधू रे", SAAM group is really sharing the interesting information where you feel like to listen & enjoy the entire Podcast...👍

My compliments to the creators of this Podcast. 👋👋👋 I have always believed that while the Tune and Orchestra are the Body of a song, its lyrics are its 'Soul'. However fanciful, or moving, a song's music may be, unless the lyrics arrest your mood and make you 'think' along with the song, it does not belong to that category which makes it memorable. A song like that makes you drop everything and stop only to 'Listen' to its words. (I can recall that instance in 'Dil Deke Dekho' when Shammi Kapoor begins Usha Khanna's "Megha re bole, Ghanan Ghanan" and the distant ladies going about their agricultural work are stopped in their tracks. Or, take that moment from 'Mili' when Jaya Bachchan begins to listen to Amitabh singing "Badi sooni sooni hai" and soon is totally immersed in the 'Words' of the song. Several such instances can be cited!). Many like to keep Music going while working. But, suddenly they stop, and are lost at one 'particular' song. THAT is the 'Chamatkar' of Lyrics. "O Duniya ke Rakhwale" would never have had the tremendous impact that it did, without those words of Shakeel Badayuni. Nor would "Man tarpat Hari Darshan ko aaj". An excellent idea to highlight 'Lyrics' in songs as they constitute the better part of a song, if written by gifted and imaginative writers with whom our Film Industry was abundantly blessed. It is rather unfortunate that their eminent role has most often gone 'unsung'.

N S Rajan thank you for such a wonderful comment. "Many like to keep Music on while working. But, suddenly they stop a while, and are lost at one 'particular' song. THAT is the 'Chamatkar' of Lyrics." This is ME!! 😃 Try as I might, I can't avoid these distractions and yet, can't help not play music while working! 😁😁😁😁 "It is rather unfortunate that their eminent role has most often gone 'unsung'." - this is the tragic part of our songs are remembered. Even Wikipedia does not mention the lyricist in the main credits. Fortunately, now with social media and online blogs and KZbin content, people have started to appreciate the lyricists more.

@@musically4905 Thank you. Unfortunately, just when the role of Lyricists was being recognised and rewarded, the NEW Generation of Music Makers post 2000 have already rendered Lyricists redundant. Sad. Now, only Large orchestras, Instrumental music and Electronic equipment , often with multiple Synthesisers, has taken over. But we cannot complain. That's the way things happen. “The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on: nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line, nor all thy tears wash out a word of it." -- Omar Khayyam

@@nsrajan100 ji, life is a circle. So what goes up must come down in order to go up again. Sadly, it may not be in our lifetime that we get to witness the comeback of lyricists or should I say, good poetry. But having said that, I do hear good lyrics every once in a while, even nowadays. Thank you so much for this beautiful comment. We hope Sun Mere Bandhu Re will be instrumental in encouraging people to observe beautiful lyrics! And we hope that listeners like you continue to hear us and leave feedback like this!

There was poetry in songs during that time. Very few were just noise. Your notes on the song listening are great.

Initially the "heart" was missing, but as it went further the soul entered. It was thought provoking podcast, loved the shared learnings & the innocence with which they were convyed. As they say "without followers there is no leader", all these writers & singers would be "no ones" without contributors like you and many many more.........continue to have fun while doing more episodes.

@lalitkar9 This was a most difficult episode to record because of the emotions all the lyrics and their associations brought forth. So thank you for seeing the soul in it. 🙏 Thank you for the lovely compliment too. It gives our 'work' a boost! Thought, truthfully speaking we have way too much fun to call this work! 😀Once again, thank you!

Another excellent episode, this time dealing with some stark truths. A comment regarding the song, ये माटी सभी की कहानी कहेगी, I've always seen the song as more of a defiance than any other emotion, of a love for the land one is born in. Not so much metaphysical as patriotic in the best sense possible.

@harshadkhatavkar2307 a pertinent observation! The lyrics do talk about our history, na! And the start of the song in Mahendra Kapoor's 'buland' voice proclaims, "Na raja rahega, na rani rahegi, ye duniya hai phaani, phaani rahegi..." Talking about these songs truly brings out such variable viewpoints as to completely amaze you! Thank you so much for sharing the way this song touches you! 🙏

As usual excellent narrative 👏. Lyrics, just like dialogues leave an everlasting impression on our minds. Lyrics accompanied with music score higher in the scale than the dialogues. But all lyrics don't leave the same impression on every individual who listens to the song. Moreover, it also depends on the mood of the person who is listening at that time. For example when a death' takes place of a person who is dear to you, bhakti songs create an emotional balance e.g. Tora manva kyun ghabraye re lakh deen dukhiyare prani. And even the songs played by you two would make the person realise the futility of chasing material things. When you watch and listen to the song simultaneously the visuals matter a lot. These should synchronise with the message being conveyed in the lyrics. However several songs convey the meaning very strongly if you listen to them in solitude, ekant mein baith kar. 😉. Recall the song. Yaad na jaye beetey dilon ki. Many other songs composed by Madan Mohan fall in this category, especially the ones by Lata. Hai isi mein pyar ki arzoo,...Jo humne dastan apni sunaye....apki nazron ne samjha pyaar k qabil mujhey... Another perspective is when songs act as a mood changer especially from being indifferent and sad to being happy. But this is another topic to be discussed Once again many thanks for reviving the memories 💖
