Wow did not think I would ever see this fine vessel again. Owner used to run it up the coast from Florida to Anchor Pointe marina on Lake Erie. He was a fixture at the bar, big cigar, and always laughing. The last year he paid a Captain to move the boat. I’m guessing he passed away. Having been on the boat several times - never underway - she is absolutely stunning. By the way, Randy, this is not a trawler it is a deep v express. This hull design wallows around a bit until you get it up on a plane and then you ease the throttles back a bit and it is rock solid. Those big cats purr like thirsty kittens at minimum planing speed and howl like banshees at full throttle!

This is one of the most reasonable boat listing prices I've come across. A lot of love has gone into the build and maintenance of this yacht.

I like it, but a few things stand out, traditionally a trawler is heavy, full displacement, slow and fuel efficient, designed for long distance cruising in comfort. This one is built for speed with a top speed of 30 knots! Can it be considered a trawler? I wonder what the fuel burn is for those 2 big Cats with 800 hp each at cruising speed? I bet the 935 gallons of fuel doesn't last very long. Aside from that, this is an incredible boat that has been well maintained and certainly beautiful. Given a choice between this and the two Cheoy Lee motor sailors shown earlier I would pick the Cheoy Lees every time. This was a good find Jordon, I hope we see more of these.

The listing is a wee bit in error. Those engines put out 465hp each, burn Is 15 gal/hr so 30 gal/he for both. At six knots probably 8 gal/hr total.

@@WorldWideMoose I know if your the kind of person that can afford a motor yacht fuel prices probably aren't at the top of your concern. But at around $4.00 a mile, that would make me puke.

Grand Banks has always made gorgeous boats. This would be a good one for a family (with guest) who wanted to do the Loop. The Cat engines are nearly bulletproof although at over 4k hours I'd be thinking about having a thorough overhaul (maybe even a rebuild) done on them before heading out.

Technically if it has a planing hull (30 knots), not sure it qualifies to be described as a trawler. Trawlers are usually displacement or semi-displacement hulls. This is actually what I would describe as a Down East design style. Spend some time touring marinas from Annapolis up into New England and you will see a lot of boats of this style from Sabreline, the Talaria series from Hinckley, Alden, Vicem, as well as a lot of custom built boats from those regions. That being said, Grand Banks made its name on semi-displacement trawlers over the years and they have always been of top notch quality. This more recent history is a departure from what is considered classic Grand Banks. Nevertheless, very nice boat, all it takes is money! I wonder if there was a layout option to have a guest double in lieu of that triple single stateroom.

Wow love it!! I'm 6 foot 6 inches tall so that is not enough head room for me. Even a full size GB may not have enough head room. Sailing seems to be something for short people. Just to quibble this is less a Trawler and more a Downeaster style boat. Downeasters seem to be based on smaller day fishing boats like lobster boats while trawler are based on the bigger and long distance fishing trawlers. That also seemed to be the basis for the 1920s Commuter boat that graced Long Island Sound to run back and forth from NYC to Estates on Long Island or Connecticut or Rhode Island

These are beautiful boats. You do pay a premium for the brand name. For me, It was slightly claustrophobic in there was very little direct connection outside the boat. I also, agreed with a point below as to where would four or 6 people sit for dinner. You can call a boat anything you want but it is certainly not a trawler. It is more like an express sedan. But all said and done I would love a boat like this.

No length restriction, the locks on the Erie canal were built for commercial barges. Height is appx 15 feet for the lowest point on the Erie 19 feet (?) on the Chicago River. Draft of not more than 5ish feet.

Hey, at the 5:00 mark did someone yell "Cut! Time to do the knife ad!" or maybe they said "Slice! . . . " : - ) Anyway, even if the mast was knocked off, this is a very pretty boat! That engine ROOM impressed me. That was after being impressed by the rest of the boat too. One problem, that fore deck isn't big enough to land a helicopter on. : - ( I don't recall you guys doing any specific power boat tours before. I do think every sailboat has had a motor of one sort or another. Here's another unlikely thought, could this boat be converted to electric? Probably not enough room for the solar panels needed. Plus those engines are massive. Where would you even find electric motors to replace them? haha PS - I was surprised by the knife ad, but then SV Delos did one for that same knife company! I've never seen them do a product "placement" ad before or since. That would exclude certain items (tools, sails, etc.) that they have actually purchased for long term use.

If a down east lobster boat can be sexy, this is it. contra rotating props and more efficient power would be good though. Remember, Cats don't like water. MANN R6-800's would be lighter, quieter and more efficient - and they invented marine diesels long ago.

Well done Jordan. 👍 I definitely hope you continue to mix in different types of motor yachts with your boat tours. If you do and would like to pick up some ideas on how to better showcase each boat - I would suggest you checkout Nick Burnham’s popular channel “Aquaholic”. He’s UK based but tours boats of all types and sizes from around the world. I really think you’ll like Nick’s style and will get some ideas of things you can incorporate into your vlogs. Cheers!
