You've really helped me a lot Liam, and you're so natural that I actually feel you're there in person teaching me the melodies. Currently my harmonica is really messed up (especially holes 1, 2 and 3) but when I started watching your videos, I've decided to save some money and buy myself a nice Hohner (maybe the special 20? what do you think?) so I can commit myself playing this instrument much more than just a casual free-time killer. Thanks so much again! Cheers
@Learntheharmonica8 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words. I use a lot of Special 20s, they're very good instruments. Assume you're using a pretty cheap harp at the mo? If so, a Special 20 will make a big difference - believe me, it'll be a lot easier to play, which hopefully will make it even more fun. Good luck! Cheers, Liam
@supericy068 жыл бұрын
LearnTheHarmonica.com Yes I indeed have a very messed up one ("first act" is the name). My parents gave it to me as a Christmas present 6 years ago and i barely played it until a month ago when I found it among boxes and discovered its true and fun potential! Unfortunately like I said before, it being a cheap one, the reeds got very messed up. Either way I'll get myself that sweet Hohner and look forward with your video tutorials. Thanks for the reply again! Cheers

Hello, do you have a video on how to read the notes? I'm guessing that the "-" means drawing from the harmonica, white the numbers without the "-" mean blowing into it? I really don't know, I am very new to all this :-/ Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
@Learntheharmonica7 жыл бұрын
That's correct. Positive numbers (without the "-") are blows, or out breaths. Negative numbers (with the "-") are draws, or inward breaths. Remember that you should never 'blow' through the instrument, or 'suck'. It should all be gentle breaths.

A good lesson and a great song but is there any way to play these songs in a lower octave ? I can play "Puff the Magic Dragon" and it practically makes my dog' s ears bleed . Any suggestions would be appreciated !
@Learntheharmonica6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sunny Scott, it helps to get a diagram for referencing the note layout of the harmonica, such as David Barrett's great version: www.bluesharmonica.com/sites/bluesharmonica.com/files/private/Harmonica%20Chart%20%5BAll%20Keys%5D_24.pdf. Then you can take the notes you're playing at the top end and find them lower down. You'll find that a lot of them require bends though.

I am trying my best to learn this in an F-Key harmonica. The only other one I have is a 48-hole tremolo which is an antique, and its numbers are faded away. I think I need to get a C-Key.
@Learntheharmonica7 жыл бұрын
Yes, most of my lessons and lots of other KZbin lessons use a C harp. I don't recommend playing antique harmonicas! Cheers. Liam

I think the word antique shouldn't be taken literally though. It plays nicely. It doesn't have its numbers, thats the only problem.

I find it great how you can play with the harmonica. And use your tabs very much. They are easy to play and I like to play them. I wanted to ask them if they could possibly show the tabs for '' Street of London '' with C DUR Harmonica? I love this song . My husband loves this song too. Whenever he hears the song, his tears come. It is so touching. I would like to surprise him and I would like to play the song on mundharmonika.
