There are a lot of companies out there that can power through recession and hardship periods, I'm just a fan of buying into moat heavy, cash flow grantors, buy on dips, and add as they drop, and enjoy the bull markets when they happen.

As always, it’s absurd when people call stocks momentum a flunk, they aren't considering the long run. The companies themselves have not changed, it's the market that changed. Steady as it goes, and it'll regroup in weeks.

nibbling on heavy red days has proven to be fruitful for me, these days I’m extremely attentive we are entering an unusual market (distort) economy. That doesn't mean that you can't unravel opportunities in every sectors, you can but you should be considering rewarding options first to 10x in excess. It would be a vast awareness to align under a top performer for easy earning picks. I did the same and it works.

Interestingly I agree about the stock market being overvalued. In fact my video right before this one was on that very topic and i came to the same conclusion. I probably should have done a better job of explaining the intention of this video. I was hoping to present the history and see if we could draw some conclusions for today’s market. So it will be interesting to see what happens going forward. I still believe that finding good value stocks (as tough as that is in an overpriced market) and holding them for the long run is the best move.

It could go up or it could go down, depends on what data you use. The growth rates and the rate of return seem to matter the most. The economy status during the cut is why it goes up or down. I think the market priced in the cuts already. Its just smaller rates of returns going fwd now. It matters what you pay.

Interesting analysis separating emergency drops versus economic cycle drops. I'm just a bit worried about the concept of individualized required rate of return. Shouldn't investors estimate Rm in a non-individualized way? Otherwise, one could decide to go for 15% returns, end up with a bunch of distressed underpriced companies the majority of which will perform poorly thus never getting their "required" 15%.

Exactly why i enjoy my day to day market decisions being guided by a portfolio-advisor, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short term at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not outperform. Meh. Some pretty specious analysis. You fail to define the difference between the Fed trying to control an economic decline and an "emergency." Covid and the Great Recession were emergencies (e.g. like heart attacks to the financial system)....THAT'S IT! Also, to make this useful, perhaps you should compare the market reaction in other circumstances (e.g. to see if the increases would have been superior, thus defeating your premise). (BTW, why didn't you go back to the 50's?) Anyway, it ALWAYS depends on the circumstances, the reason for the interest rate move and the speed...and the reaction. Volker & Reagan in the 80's made a systemic change that controlled the problems and unleashed the market. The Covid example is the most specious, because the market soared as a consequence of unprecedented gov. handouts (2 trillion+). When you put massive amounts of money into an economic system, asset prices go up...but it's totally artificial. In any event, I believe the accepted wisdom is investing in the Market consistently (thru good and bad times) beats trying to "time the market" (for the average Joe).

@@InvestingMadeSimple Completely wrong. I think you have a problem with listening and reading comprehension. At NO POINT does he DEFINE the term "emergency". He just SAYS x, y, z, were emergencies, but (by exclusion) a, b, c, were not "emergencies." Well, sell me don't TELL me. According to his cherry picking, banana republic inflation (11-13%) and interest rates (12-20%) aren't "emergency triggers" for Fed lowering rates. That's bizarre.
@Nayr747

I should have done a better job of defining emergency. I actually didn’t come up with that term for those drops, I took it from the fed statements. When they defined it as emergency or absolutely necessary or they dropped the interest rates between meetings, those are what I defined as emergency. But you’re 100% correct about the reasoning behind the growth (stimulus +++) certainly played a role. I was just trying to present the information to give people an idea of how things have played out in the past. Then I was thinking we could use that information to help inform our decisions going forward
