I tried backrolls when I first started wakeboarding. Hit myself in the head with my board once, about busted out my teeth with my knee another time. Put them off for a long time. Then I watched this video, tried them again and landed it. They are now surprisingly easy. Thanks!

This helped out so much! Thx, I landed my 10th or 12th attempt at wake to wake backroll! They key for me was waiting to throw the flip, patience is key! Keep trying!

If you load the line correctly the board will take you through the flip. This is a great instructional so go through every step!! I just learned a backroll from this video. Good luck with it!!

To address some of the ignorant comments here: This was filmed at Lake Minneola in Clermont, FL, home of The Wakeboard Camp and ground zero for dozens of pro wakeboarders. It is a magical place. The water is clean and smells and tastes sweet. The discoloration is from the Cypress trees that grow in the area. Kyle Schmidt is largely recognized as one of the most legit wakeboarding coaches on the planet. Those of you critiquing him and his techniques should post up your own resumes.

@soccerstar654 You should try some 180s first. Most of my 180s I don't clear the wake but can still easily ride away. This way you get comfortable with preforming a trick because many times if you are too focused on what you're about to do in the air, your jump will be much weaker and not as high and you can take some hard falls.

@flyingjoed The water isn't brackish, its in Clermont, Florida. I live there. The water has cypress tannin in it making it brown.

Thanks a lot for the video! A question: how to train "load-release" technique and make it useful? I normally do 2 waves HS jump, 5-6 feet high, but I still cannot do a bankroll for long time! The boat we use is Mastercraft 190

Hey guys im very close to landing my backroll but for some reason I naturally throw a 180 into the mix just naturally.. I have almost stuck the landing .. but landing switch just makes it that much harder for me .. any tips on how to stop the 180? or why this is happening?.. any feedback is much appreciated!!
@ProcessWake12 жыл бұрын
it will help you if you dont drop your back hand while doing a backroll, if you drop your front hand that is what causes you to go switch but if you keep 2 hands on the rope at all times while doing the trick it will help you alot! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask! and make sure you Subscribe!

Do you think if it works for a Railey?

Highly recommend NOT to try a raley like this. Jump on our channel and search "raley" and you will see some good info and tips.

Even with one wake I can't get enough height to complete the whole spin. I get quite a good speed in the spin but my head spins too low. What am I doing wrong?
@LearnWake6 жыл бұрын
Tough to say, but it could be a result of incorrect sequencing of the "release" of the trick. Make sure the hips release up and into the rotation as the board is releasing from the water. Doing this out of order can result in loss of height.

what kind of board is that? it seems to bite more agressively into water than mine does.

IceChomp you need to keep both hands on the handle longer, the'll keep you from being pulled into a 180

The water is brackish. It's a mix of salt and fresh and the mangroves usually make it brown. This is probably in Florida.

Awesome. No way I'd ever try this... I feel like one more concussion would kill me.
@SindreEide9310 жыл бұрын
I had some concussions from wakeboarding to. I am preatty new at wakeboarding so i only got some basic tricks down. toeside and healside 180 from reg to gof and gof to reg but only the frontside. The backside tricks are the ones I have hurt my self on and they freak me out. catching the heelside edge of the board on a backside trick hurts like crazy. But my goal for the summer is to land a backside 180. But in norway the summers are really short, so not much time to practice.
@ProcessWake12 жыл бұрын
dont drop your back hand, lots of times riders will tend to drop their backhand because they feel that makes them more comfortable but you have to hold on with both hands, when a rider wants to make the trick a Backroll To Revert what they will do is drop their front hand and this will cause them to rotate, if you hold on with both hands you should be fine! and make sure your still popping off the wake! If you have anymore questions please ask! and make sure you Subscribe!
@franklinbluth85426 жыл бұрын
Jeez, if I had that wake this trick would be trivial...
@LearnWake6 жыл бұрын
The beauty of learning it this way is that the wake doesn't have to be sizable at all. You'll be amazed at how much rotation you can get without any wake at all. We often hear people trying this for the first time and surprising themselves.

If you are more concerned about the water color, you are weak and shouldn't even be wakeboarding. Get back to your couch and your video games. Please people. How about being a man and trying to learn a new trick rather than complaining about the instructor's lake's water color. Give me a break!
