"Vae Victis"
Written by R.J. Williamson
Music:
• Fear and Wonder
What gods hast thou, that bow before the might of mortal men?
Surrendered now in ignorance; enslaved before the pen
Of magistrates and potentates less powerful than thee:
What makers vested strength within the legs that bend the knee?
What then of their countenance, their handiwork to see?
Cry then! Cry out unto them and witness unto me!
What chains and shackles hobble thee - what burden giveth pause?
What fearsome power maketh thee unworthy of thy cause?
What of the faith and principles thou surely must despise,
To supplicate in deference before a throne of lies?
Count for me the years before the soul of freedom dies.
Art thou now a servant and a slave in thine own eyes?
What fools are we, who in false grace before accusers bowed
And in our hubris and our haste their tyranny allowed.

Oh yeah?!... Then you might like this: Here you came oh literature major For thy pleasure and enjoyment Savour it now 'cause I wager You'll spend years in unemployment. Thus is the nature of such degree To leave thou waiting on a shelf But I shouldn't really mock thee Because I have one myself. So I leave to your consideration This little poem as a jest Please don't take it as humiliation I wish you all the best.

"Vae Victis, "woe to the vanquished", or "woe to the conquered". It means that those defeated in battle are entirely at the mercy of their conquerors and should not expect-or request-leniency." The majority of the poem is from the perspective of a conqueror mocking the gods and values of the conquered asking how mighty could they be if it has failed them and allowed them to bend the knee to him but by the end the speaker laments the selfishness and foolishness that allowed themselves to be conquered in the first place and should have kept being defiant instead of bending the knee.

I can see why you'd read it that way. Insightful. It's intended to be a commentary on the way mankind is, itself, enslaved - not to gods but to mere men. If you made a youtube channel and only posted warhammer content you'd get way more subscribers. I just cant bring myself to subscribe cuz you post so much shitpost content.

Hey Burial, while the music choice itself was a good fit for this, I find it to be a touch too loud, and it overshadows your reading quite a bit. When not using headphones I have to strain to hear what is actually being said. Mayhaps, a 15-20% reduction on the music volume would work well. Cheers though mate, keep up the good work.

Then again with headphones the mixing is perfect

Sounds fine on my end. Audio will sound different on different devices. I recommend all my videos be listened to through headphones.

As an audience we can also at times simply not align with the artistic vision of content we consume. The "loud" music around 0:49 - 1:10 could pretty well be exactly as planned by the author and not fit your liking, things happen. o/ Tho personally I mostly find myself wondering why artists pick some words over others in songs and worry less about mixing.

This is redditor bs. World eater marines are coherent and poetic in the books. Until the combat and blood. Then nails bit them hard. But lheor, arrian, kharn, kargos etc etc are great characters.

>someone who doesn't know the World Eaters They can actually be really damn deep and thoughtful when they aren't screaming.
