This video was produced before the most recent patch, in which the self-loading rifles as a whole were buffed somewhat. My biggest gripe with the Autoloading 8 was its frustrating spread and since that has been improved, the gun is now considerably more capable at fighting at distance than before. I will probably have to revisit it in future but until then, be aware that this gun might be worth trying out if you don't use it already! Also: If anyone is playing on PC and fancies a match, feel free to join the "Rogues Raiders" platoon or come play on the official Rogue's Raiders server! I'm mostly on European servers but everyone is welcome to join the platoon while spaces last!

Rogue-9 Sorry man but you said yourself more than once that this gun is supposed to be used in aggressive cqc. And most of the time you were trying to play defensive at over 100 meter. It's just not your gun The 8.35 is a beast, due to it's ridiculous low ttk. But it may not fit your playatile

I agree with Mister K's point of view when stating that it is truly a gun used for a specific play style. You MUST use it as a medium range weapon to lay down rounds quickly in order to eliminate enemy assault and support players in order to revive your fellow team members. I used this gun recently to unlock the new RSC medic rifle (which is a great long range weapon) and I learned how much I loved the autoloading 8. It't a fun gun to use and I love the feel of it as well.

Rogue-9 I had the opposite impression. When I had my first brief go at the Autoloading 8.35 Factory. I don't really like the Marksman variant so I thought well this doesn't have a scope so it will be better at close range, how bad can it be. It was terrible. One of the worst rifles I have ever used in a video game. Firstly you only get one kill before reloading and when at ranges it will be a 4 shot instead of 3 shot kill. At least the 1906 doesn't have a damage drop off. And it has a slow reload. The only positive to the gun is its high rpm, but it only comes in handy when at close range, but you might as well use the extended variant as you can get up to four kills before reloading, and it's a faster reloading. At medium you have to have skill as you can only miss 1 or 2 shots which is hard at times cause it's iron sights and its recoil. It makes the Marksman look like a decent weapon. I was so relieved when I unlocked the RSC Optical.

What good does a 26 count magazine do you, when I can drop you faster due to higher fire rate amd higher damage per bullet? Tulbeful I've been using the c93... it's not the greatest at finishing them off mid range (which is where you'd want to use this gun, not in CQC like everyone who complains about it), but when taking on multiple people pushing you it can take them out pretty quickly.

I feel this gun is definitely a hidden gem on consoles- we have a much harder time compensating for recoil, so this guns minimal recoil fast reset, and vicious rate of fire mean it is an absurdly lethal weapon out to 40ish meters- and on console, aiming is less precise, so engagement ranges at long distance are typically much lower than on PC- we can't click on pixels due to controller woes. But with that said, the incentive is to close distance to mid-short range, and low recoil with this rate of fire and damage output makes a winner. You can reliable take on anything that isn't an automatic or shotgun in CQC and reliably win 1v1 with this gun... and if there are others, as the other comment says, the auto revolver basically turns you into a small squad killer. One or two kills with the Auto-8, and two-3 kills with the auto revolver. Mele and incendiary/gas (I prefer incendiary), to cover your reload.

The Selbstlader 1916 is the easiest to use but has the lowest skill ceiling: no matter how good you are, the RPM will limit you. However, the Model 8 is the hardest to use with the highest skill ceiling: it has the lowest TTK of all auto rifles, with the smallest magazine capacity. In the end, if you have good aim and are skilled at the game, use the latter.

I use the Auto 8 and its shit accuracy ruins my "good aim." I can easily and happily forgive its 5 rounds, but I can't forgive a weapon that won't shoot where I'm aiming. Literally every other weapon (maybe sans the M1907 which is superior to the Auto 8 in most ways) has better accuracy and rewards your aim. I can't wait to get to level 10 medic and use the 1906, that at least has accuracy going for it.

I think the marksman variant is probably one of the best guns in the game. It has the capability of performing it's niche with ease, compared to this variant which has no capability of medium to long range engagement.

I can see why. If you play to the gun's strengths (get in relatively close and take enemies on one at a time) it's really devastating. I think one of my issues was that I really like the 1906 a lot and have spent a lot of time with it and trying to go for the same play style with the Autoloading meant that I wasn't having the best time with it.

It being a factory variant also helps spamming shots, since factory variants recover faster from recoil (which in my eyes, perfect for DMRs) and you also can get into a firing ready position faster after sprinting. That being said, it's a bitch to chain the shots while spamming.

How this gun can be properly used: If you're a medic who spends more time reviving or healing people rather than killing the enemy, then this is the gun for you. I found that the high rate of fire combined with the low bullet spread while moving is great for eliminating that one enemy that is preventing you from reviving your teammate. I also recommend learning how to powerslide before using this gun variant.

In my experience, the best way to use the Auto 8 Factory is trading fire from side cover (such as doorways and corridors) in the 25-60 meter range, which is far from infrequent. Pop out, gun down one enemy, pop back into cover to reload and perhaps heal yourself, rinse and repeat. The weapon's damage and rate of fire works well for this. It's also one of the more fun weapons to use in my experience, though maybe that's just a self-imposed challenge factor. The low-ammo SLs generally suffer from a utility Catch-22 on the whole, though. Less experienced players dislike them because they're too likely to miss too many shots, and more experienced players want weapons that can reliably dish out more than just one kill. Which means weapons like the Auto 8 .35s, SL1906, and even the Cei-Rigotti as well just don't see much use by any level of player. I definitely still like the Auto 8 Factory over the Extended (too weak) and Marksman (too much optic for too short an effective range) variants.

As with everything else, it's a matter of preference and I'm sure that a certain play style can take advantage of the Autoloading 8's fast time to kill. What your critics fail to understand is that it's not everybody's cup. I can still read comments about how this gun is accurate. What accuracy? I was missing perfectly aimed shots, no suppression. Hitting the first shot, then missing follow-ups. Could not hit consistently with it at all. And I dare say I prefer playing aggressive scout/sniper; love the Martini. Personally, I felt the gun was holding me back, so I had to let it go. Same feeling u have when loosening up a tight necktie...

Addendum: the accuracy issue with this gun went away after a universal buff to SLR accuracy, and the tiny magazine issue is actually not much of a killer once you learn to play passive-aggressive in just the right way (alternatively, be good with your sidearm).

The only thing I can think about what was going through the devs minds with this gun is that they thought..."ok, this will pretty much be the best CQB medic gun, and while that alone isn't enough to make it usable with only a 5 round mag, sidearms are also the best they've ever been in a BF game." So, the devs may well expect heavy sidearm reliance with the use of the 8. Of course, the very act of drawing a pistol takes more time than the TTK of some guns, so this is a heavy liability. While selecting a sidearm for other purposes, we can say "this attribute is important to finish a target off but I won't need this or that attribute" but we would really need the full package in a gun that would accompany the 8....big mag, fast TTK, fast reload time, fast deploy time, etc. So that's also the issue since such an OP sidearm just doesn't exist. I'm just not sure which sidearm would be ideal to pair with the model 8. Even if such a sidearm did exist, I admit that the hipfire is another area that disappoints. A hip/move of 2.5 is fairly bad compared to the 1907 Trench's 1.5.

This gun, combined with the Webley, is an absolute joy to use. It also really helped getting the hang of this rifle before transitioning to the 1906. I'll concede that the 1906 is a better rifle, but on smaller maps or game modes, like Domination and TDM, the rate of fire and damage will more reliably get you out of sticky situations against less-skilled assault players. Also, as with being a medic in general, it helps to have a good squad so that you don't get into those 1 vs 4 and worse situations. I mean, this game is made to play with friends on headsets, so this gun makes for a good squad range magnifier on smaller maps while still being capable of high DPM when you really need it.

The Autoloading 8.25 Factory has found a place in my standard issue equipment. I find that its all about controlling your engagements. The RoF is phenomenal, and if you control the combat well enough, you can get the fast reload in between opponents. The only time I change out is if I end up on open maps.

I play a more aggressive, assault-oriented medic than most. I'm the type to rush into battle, pick off any nearby enemies, and revive teammates. And in this capacity, the autoloading 8 is pretty good with its high fire rate and manageable recoil

When i play medic, which is my primary class, I typically play in or slightly behind my team and try to focus on keeping everyone alive as well as watching the flank. This gun is typically a good anti flanker weapon or a gun that is used in defense of your teammates. If you have a friend or are in a group you can drop people in quick succession because of its high dmg. I personally fell in love with this gun when i started using it and I personally find it astetically pleasing and complimentary to my own playsyle ^~^

I still love the Cei Rigotti Trench even in 2021. For me when it’s set on full auto it’s perfect for close quarters. Sebstlater marksman is my medic rifle for more long range maps. Never even tried the gun featured in this video, the 5 round clip scared me away.

I call the AL 8 Factory the Argonne gun. I tried it as a joke there once and did quite well. The next time I played it at Argonne I started picking up the kits of enemies I'd killed 1v1 and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few Model 10A Hunters and Automaticos. It is really bad at range regardless of the patch, and I wouldn't use it on full 64p servers without a tight squad to help cover those reloads. It is undoubtedly, however, a CQB 1v1 monster

I have a service star with this gun. But only because I was trying to unlock the RSC 1917 Optical which requires 15 kills with the Autoloading 8.35 Factory in a round, and I kept coming up short on the kills. I eventually unlocked the RSC 1917 Optical after getting the service star and never touched it again.

Under the 1906, this is my second favorite medic gun. If I'm going for mid/long range support, I take the 1906 and if I want to push the front lines I take the Autoloading 8 factory Also it really helps both of those guns if you ditch the bayonet

My hardest challenge in BF1 was trying to get the medic’s RSC optical variant. To get you HAVE to get 15 kills in a round with the Model 8 factory. For some people that isn’t hard at all, but for someone who has a aggressive play style like myself and prefers either high damage w/low ammo or low damage w/high ammo; this gun just wasn’t my cup of tea. I prefer the Marksman variant over the factory, at least then the long off enemies won’t be completely missed due to iron sights.

I really don't get why everyone has to trash every gun, it's not just this one, pretty much every vid on bf1 guns has at least one person saying their favorite gun is better because it just is. There is no gun that is better than any other. Use what works for you. All of the guns in the game ( except the kolibri) can be used to great effect, it's all down to personal preference. You make a very good argument! But I've recently been using it and found I loved it. It has a very specific engagement range, but if you can reliably land shots it excels in that range. If you make good use of cover, you can reload between each kill very easily. But, if you get rushed, you're dead. So you need to stay with your squad. It's a different playstyle for sure. I don't think it's bad- but I do think that what makes guns good is versatility, and this gun doesn't have much of that.

control the engagements, keep space and cover between you and enemies and you'll dominate. it does make target prioritization an important part of your game play too. it makes you play more strategically and defensively. your KD will go way up as a result. the biggest weakness for me is hitting moving targets as you need the rpm to feel effective, yet also can't afford to miss. I've had to let quite a few targets go unchecked who I definitely would have engaged otherwise. ...pick a sidearm you feel comfortable with also, that reload is very punishing when getting pushed.

As a personal challenge I'm trying to get a service star with each weapon in BF1 (the exception will be the kolibri...maybe) and it was painful to play with this gun, I realized that it was meant for CQB but usually in those situations you will face more than one enemy, so usually I ended up trading, assisting or just hunting campers, the extended version was fun tho'

I use the selb or the sweeper for the main reason of the magazine capacity, as a medic you need to run under fire to revive teammates and while the 8.35 is a powerful weapon in skilled hands the capacity makes it a liability when coupled with the aggressive play style the class requires.

I only play factory variants of semi auto rifles. I just can't get into my head why people always play semi auto rifles with automatic variants and with large magazines. If you want automatic weapons go play MPs and MGs. If you can't handle a weapon with five shots but want full auto weapons with 300 round magazines so you don't have to aim at all then go play CoD Space Shooters.

I've been watching this series recently, and I really do love it! but I did have a question I was hoping you might have an answer for, and that is in regard to the reload of certain medic rifles (I believe one of the RSC 1917 variants). I've noticed that they don't always have the maximum ammo in a magazine after reload, regardless of reserve ammo. sometimes it will load the listed 6, but sometimes it only loads 5. any clue as to why?

I literally just finished a game of frontlines using the auto 8 factory , and I went 156 and 49 ( the game was over an hour and a half but still) the best part about this weapon that most people over look while reviewing it is the accuracy reset between shots......its so quick, the auto loaders are the best spam fire weapons in the medic class. granted you do have to be at least semi competent when it comes to aim and picking engagements but this gun is dreadfully underutilized, people scoff at it's 5 round magazine, then wonder why they can barely get 2 kills with the selbstlader or M1907 with their poor accuracy reset. if you get good at traversing terrain, pick your engagements correctly, and work on your aim , you'll be borderline unstoppable

I disagree with your assessment of close quarters only. The model 8, especially the marksman, excels at medium range (25-45 m) where it maintains a 3 bullet kill over other CQ SLRs that have lost the 3 bullet kill. But far more importantly, the Auto 8 accumulates very little bullet spread when fired at max rof, whereas all the other SLRs accumulate a lot of spread at max rof. So unlike the Cei Rigatoni or 1907, the theoretical TTK at 25-45 m is much closer to what can actually be achieved in game. The auto 8 even possesses a greater potential at mid range over the 3 bullet SLRs because of this lack of spread accumulation. Long story short, use the gun at 15-50 m, where it completely outclasses every other gun in the game for 1v1 engagements.

I've noticed that the autoloading .25 extended also needs to be fired at a slightly slower rate to stay accurate at medium ranges. I guess that like with all guns, it's down to practice and getting used to the gun. I realise that the power and fire rate of the factory and marksman give it a lot of potential but it's just never quite clicked with my play style.

Also let's go over how the Autoloading (Remington Model) 8 has ridiculously low recoil. This is in spite of the RM8's long recoil system, which in layman's terms means the entire barrel and bolt assembly recoils with the weapon. Obviously that much metal slamming into one's shoulder should equate to plenty of recoil, but its pretty manageable recoil in game really doesn't mirror that. It probably was changed for the sake of balance, but it just makes the gun a bit less realistic

This variant can be really effective if you time your reloads and have good situational awareness (in close range situations of course), I've done extremely well in most matches I play with this. It's challenging and infuriating at some moments, but the skill and tactics required to use it effectively are prevalent, just take your time and be accurate. In reality, if you were to use it in it's intended range, up to 30-40 yards, you can down 2 people with a head shot and body shot, and land another head shot on a third target, requiring you to finish him off with a secondary. So in reality, you could kill 3 people without needing to reload, its all just a matter of play style and accuracy.

this is my favorite medic gun! if you are fighting medium to close range against 1 person at a time, this thing is a monster! fast fire rate, high damage, I have killed people many times where they have gotten the first shot on me but I manage to catch up cuz it shoots so fast and does so much damage! you have to understand that the DPS potential of this gun is the highest of all medic guns!

I have 2500kills with the factory so far. It is a great gun but it requires ALOT of positioning, patience and awarness to use. It shines below 40m were it can outshoot pretty much any gun aside from automaticos and shotties at very close ranges. Just make sure you are close to cover. This is an defensive gun suitable below 40m, unlike the Cei Rigotti, Auto 25 and M1907 which are fully offensive weapons. If you want range and also high close range power in a defensive, low mag format, the 1906 is a much friendlier and accurate weapon, currently 3600kills with it.

A lot of people swear by this gun and I do have to admit that with the right play style, this gun (and especially its scoped cousin) can be very effective due to its very high damage output.

How to use Autoloading Factory 8.35 : 1 - Stop 2 - Shoot 3 - Reload & Move 4 - Repeat above steps for continuous success. The problem with players is that they want to use the same play style regardless what gun they're carrying. You can't be an aggressive medic and rushing to battle with this. It's true that long range / medium this gun sucks but in CQC it absolutely destroys the enemy. Event if they're bringing automatico. On the Suez map that you show here, I'd probably be using Selbs Optical. Never this one. It depends on the maps. Cool review though.

Personally, I find that every gun is viable in bf1, as long as you have the will to change your play style to make up for what the gun is lacking, even the kolibri works as a finisher for the martini henry in close quarters, which is the purpose of the variation system (as opposed to the modular system found in previous Battlefield games.)

when I first played bf1 and unlocked the 8.35's, I tried them once and said "these things are trash". And then I after getting to around level 90 ish I decided to give the marksman another try. You can't just pick this thing up and be good with it. I wasn't good and could use it dependibly until around 1,000 kills. This is my most accurate weapon shooting near 50% with it, and I play on console...so.. git gud with it and you'll be amazed lol.

I use the Mondragón Optical, I tend to find myself in close/midrange conflict spots on the map and the accuracy really helps with my heightened sensativity in the controls. Besides if shit gies south I always got my C96 to fall back on. (Side note: I FUCKING LOVE THE C96)

The Mondragon Sniper is OP and you should make a video on that gun. Its like a laser beam when prone and Ive been using it to kill snipers and with a low zoom scope its great in CQB. Aside from the Sweeper for very close range the Mondragon Sniper is the only medic gun I use and it got me to rank 10 very fast. Ive used every medic gun and its the best one Ive used, Please check it out! Treat it like a mid range sniper rifle/DMR and watch the kills roll in.

I agree with your points I have tried all 3 different types and the 5 clip size is a big disadvantage the extended variant is a much better choice and if your after range just go with the Mondragon or slebsleder sniper verients
