Nice job on the beret. When I work with real leather I use contact cement and a mallet to get the seams to lay flat. Makes it a lot easier to do the over stitching. Contact cement gives off a lot of fumes so another option is two sided seam tape. Love your Singer. Had one like it but I sold it and I’m sorry I did.

I don’t work with real leather but it sounds like something really interesting to explore! I did work with some contact cement when I worked in a theatre costume shop, and they made me buy this serious fume protector…maybe I should put that to work 😆

Man this thing looks professional it's uncanny. The tips in here are very useful for sewing with faux leather, I just figured it would be like any other fabric without thinking lol. The finished project in the end is close enough to the inspiration. Good work as always!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement as always! ☺️ When I looked at other photos, I realized her hat was a bit different shape but it was after I already made the hat so I decided it was close enough lol

It turned out great even being too stiff. I use beeswax or a bit of soap where im going to sew so it slides better.
@SachisStudio Жыл бұрын
I have to try that method! Thank you so much for your tip💕😊

@@SachisStudio of course, i have made a recover for motorcycle seat and a garage stool. Learned a few things from that …fun…. Experience. Lol while youre sewing over the wax or soap, it gets on the needle too and can wash out.

sewing leather for motorcycle seat and a garage stool sounds so challenging yet very interesting! I never thought of using soap but it makes sense 😆

@@SachisStudio it was definitely a challenge and im certain that my sewing machine hasnt been right ever since. I used leather from the back of an old couch i tossed out. Free! Hahaha
