Thank you, for this tutorial! I’m so glad I found this, and your have quite the eye for design and execution. I’m going to try this (and I’ll be new at it), but I’ll use scraps of leather, to experiment on, first. Would you mind sharing any tips for executing this on a small purse that I obviously can lay flat?
@cheaneysaddles

I would do a pencil sketch on paper of the idea you have the use a practice piece of leather before you try it on the purse. Another tip is to make a poster board template of the outline of the design you come up with this is what I do sometimes.

Can this be married up with tooling leather for highlighting? I suppose it can/could, but I just haven't seen it done to be honest.

wow looks so nice! I tried it myself some time ago but I was totally put off by the lines not being consistent (like getting bigger and smaller dots here and there) but I think it's just something that has to be accepted while doing pyro on leather. But also I used another tip, the one that resembles a blade, it makes the edges of the cut really nasty... Not recommending

As an artist, I’ve always accepted that, whether painting, carving, etching or burning, the lines will vary. And, to me... that shows that it’s handmade. If a design has symmetry, it will still be beautiful, despite the thinner or fatter lines/dots, etc. When a die is cast into the leather, it looks fine, but it’s not personal. Thanks, for the tip on the blade accessory - I’m new at this, so I appreciate you sharing that.

I like the blunt tip. This burner came with only three tips so I picked the one I lied the best.
