I love when packaging is biodegradable (such as brown paper packaging or cardboard). If I cannot reuse it for gifts or as scrap paper, I'll use it in my garden (placing soil and plants/seeds on top of it), or strip it up and put it into the compost pile.

Me too! That’s why I choose brown Kraft paper/card for as much as I can, it’s partly recycled and just turns back into soil 🤩🪱

Could you have a stamp made for the back of any bubble envelopes that says “I’ve been recycled, to give me a longer life, once you’ve opened me and fallen in love with the goodies inside me, please re-use me and keep the world turning”

Slow and steady is the bushcraft way. 😉 For your cat pictures try picture hanging strips. They stick to the back of the picture and then adhere to a wall, are removable and don’t leave marks. 😊 And, of course, GG on 20k or thereabouts. 😅

Design a big shipping label with your return address etc and print it out on the brown craft paper. Stamp with that stamp. Tape the label over the seam of the bubble packaging. Now you’ve carried your branding to the outside of your package. And you can cover up all the old stickers and labels at the same time. X

We use those little cardboard boxes as the outer packaging for our family business. I add a little bit of paper tape at the opening and then I just stick the address label to the box. We used to reuse packaging but as we grew it quickly felt a bit unprofessional so I just use reusable stuff for person eBay sales 😊 x

If you could find an oversized shadow box frame with a gray or any color you like background, you could use elastic cords at the corners of the cat painting, which could be raised a bit from the background and hold the painting in place. This would allow the painting to be removed as is. Clear corner clips may work also.

If you absolutely have to use plastic for packaging, I would be fine with the recycled one. But if you can just use brown paper over the box - it's so much better. I also tend to store packaging from online shops, but then it almost never comes handy again. Lucky you, you actually have so many things to send out and pack ))

Whenever I sell on eBay I always put in the description that I sometimes use recycled packaging. You could offer the option, I think most would opt for recycled unless it was the chocolates you used to wrap lol x

Congrats on hitting the 20K subscribers - which I noticed has now already hit 21K ! Yes, I would certainly like to hear how you use your 'journal' - as coincidentally (yet again) I have been looking into exactly that, whilst laid up in bed over the last few days. For years I have just used cheap notebooks, as an analogue way to capture random thoughts and ideas, or throw away lists and scribbles. But I think starting a proper journal might force me into a much better routine, which could also help improve the way in which I handle my various ramblings...😂

I do love the way you have wrapped your order but one of the most important things for me is that it is not damaged when it arrives. Have seen plenty of videos of the way parcels and post are chucked around in transit. Reusing old padded bags / envelopes makes sense to me. Maybe a note inside the package explaining your are reusing / recycling old packaging being environmentally friendly and protecting the goods inside as well. Congrats on the 20K subs. Rgds Dennis

Frame your kitty oil painting in an open frame like an inch in width on the side and a groove to slot the board on the inside. I'm sure a framer would know what to do. Another possibility is a floating frame with a margin around the painting. Best to discuss this with a professional framer. I agree you want to e texture to show and not be behind glass. thanks for your post!

I'm delighted if people reuse packaging. Just tell the customers at the checkout. It would be great if we could all have somewhere to donate our padded envelopes, but I've never seen anything locally. Sometimes they come up on Freecycle. At the Eden Project they have a corner where all the cardboard boxes go, and visitors can take them if they need a box.

Agreed, there’s a scrapstore in saltash where I usually donate them - they have a guy from Plymouth come over regularly to gather postal supplies for his eBay business, so I know they’ll be used even if I don’t use them. Perhaps there’s something like that down west?

It's lovely to see you creating and packing orders. I had a thought about re-using packaging; what if you salvaged the bubble wrap from inside the padded envelopes to wrap around your boxes for protection before you brown-paper wrap them?. Maybe shred the paper bits you aren't using and pop them into the compost bin? Cardboard would also work well for protection and if you stuck your brown paper to the cardboard with a glue-stick, nobody would know if it was originally from elsewhere. Good luck with the botanical art class - I hope you will share your final piece at the end of the course. I'm also looking forward to your foraging bag going on sale!!!! It's so sad about your new transfers not being right - could you use them anyway and sell as 'seconds' quality to re-coop a little bit of money? Finally - get your honey & lemon out or make some elderberry syrup to give yourself an immune boost and give that cold virus the boot!!! 🙂

Thank you Rosie 😘 You know I’ve felt so run down that I couldn’t even be bothered to treat myself beyond the essential. I need a plan next time my immune system takes a hit so I don’t have to think about what to do, I just do it. Re the prints, maybe. My brother used to work in print and is extremely critical, and he said they’re not that bad. But every print is pixelated-I’ll show you in the follow up video where I share them what I mean. I’ve since had a reprint and when they’re finally up and available I will try printing one of the bad ones to see if they’d work as a cheap ‘oopsy’. Fingers crossed as there’s so blinking many of them 🥴

I know that the inside presentation is what’s important to me. Maybe have customers put recycle in the notes section if that don’t mind that type of packaging. I personally agree with you on using these packaging bags over and over. We have enough trash in the world already.

My main concern with parcels is that I actually get them. Usually they insist on using some useless courier that a( can't find the doorbell, or b) send me an invalid code for the deposit box. No such problems if sent by postal service.

Are you UK based Chris? Do you mean that courier deliveries often go awol, but Royal Mail (or the equivalent wherever you’re based) actually get delivered?

@hedgecomber I'm in Romania. Stuff from France 🇫🇷 comes by DHL or DPD. ( Both are useless) Latvia 🇱🇻 sends it by post. No dramas. There are several other companies, without a French connection.

Honestly I feel like a hypocrite with packaging, I really think it should be reused and have a second life, but when I see stuff I've bought arrive in it, it does set off alarm bells about if it was really well packaged or not. Wish I didn't feel that way, but it's the honest gut reaction...
